What card should I apply for? 714 EQ Clean Report

Last collection just came off EQ and score jumped 55 points. I have 7 INQ (5 for mortgage and 2 for Comenity). Current accounts are auto loan for 3+ years, secured card 3+ years, 5 new accounts in the last several months, 16% current utilization. Highest CL on Visa/MC is $2,000. Interested in Visa/MC with a higher line....was thinking Nordstrom Visa? Thanks for any input!

This all depends on how you plN to use your card etc, best bet is to check prequalify sites to see what you might be approved for.  If you're looking for a limit that can increase exponentially in a few months I'd try Amex and the 3xs increase they do, personally all my limits were under 6k before and once that grew all my other cards are over 10k now.   Generally I would try your local credit union as they take your relationship with them into account and might offer better limits and more favorable terms,  I started with penned when I was around your scores and the visa siggy I got fro. Them gives points demo ding how I use it but grew from 7k to 20k recently.

Re: What card should I apply for? 714 EQ Clean Report

@SouthJamaica:

EQ is 714, TU 677, EXP 655

Current cards are two secured cards, only one with a 3-year history. A couple Comenity store cards and VISA's. My highest VISA/MC limit is currently $2000, store high limit is $4500. UTL 15%, AAoA is 2.5 years.

Was thinking about Cabela's Visa or Cap One Quiksilver? Also interested in Nordstrom Visa or store card but not sure if scores would qualify me.

Thanks!

Nordstrom was EX for me

Any CU that you may be a member of. They all seem to live off EQ.

Discover was EQ for me but they sometimes pull double EQ and EX for others. The chrome version sometimes pulls EQ and TU

@SublimeDavid

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunuately, back 8 years ago I had very large lines with the big boys which I maintained for many years. I had a severe setback when the 2008 recession hit and those were all charged off. I don't believe BofA, Chase, Amex, etc. will work with me anymore, unfortunately. Was looking for other Visa or MC's with other banks besides these. As far as pre-qual sites, I can't get anything to come up though on CardMatch and CreditKarma is says I'm pre-qualified for Quiksilver and have "very good" odds for approval. Not sure if that's accurate but I haven't applied yet with Cap One.

Did you try the cap one prequal site? They will pull all 3 so if you want something from a picky Lender, apply with them BEFORE capital one

Re: What card should I apply for? 714 EQ Clean Report

Hi Water88,

Really? Interesting about Nordstrom. My EX has one CO medical collection that I'm going to be paying soon and also, a very old Collection from 2010 that's due to come off in July. Was hesitant to apply with anyone who pulls EX until those items were off. Unfortunately, I'm not a member of any CU's and am not a former service member nor is my husband or any other family member. I see some great results people have from many CU's but I have no way of becoming a member. Thanks for your reply!

Yes! I get no offers from the pre-qual for some reason! I can't believe with my scores I couldn't qualify for their card...who knows though?
