I want to apply for both but I want to know what you guys think. Should i apply for one or both. Credit Karma says i have VERY GOOD approval odds for both cards. My CK scores are TU:643 and EQ: 635 and my FICO's are EQ: 634, TU:604 and EX: 641. I went to Capital One's website and it says that those two cards are for people with average or limited credit. I'm 18 so I have limited credit history, it's about a year. I currently only have one small retail store credit card with a starting limit of $450 and this month I got an automatic CLI to $585 and my balance in $130 which i will be paying off this month. I also have a load for $1700 and my payments are withdrawn automatically from my bank account. So what do you guys think, should I apply for both or just one. What do you guys think are my approval odds?Thank you for the help.
Try checking the prequal on the Cap 1 website. Those are usually pretty solid. Credit Karma approval odds have proven to be all over the place, not so accurate. That being said I think you have a pretty good chance at either of them, depending on the rest of your profile. Only apply for 1 because Cap 1 has a one card in 6 months rule. You will be automatically declined for the second app upon approval.
I checked the pre-qual site and it said that you can't be pre-qualified for anything unless you're 21,I'm 18. I tried it anyway and it said they didn't have any pre-qual offers for me but they suggested I applied for those two cards. What else on my profile do you think depends on my approval odds?

AAoA, UTIL, inquiries, badies, etc. Any negatives. With both of these cards being builders/rebuilders Cap 1 tends to approve for thin files like yours.

+1 what Noble wrote. If you have no baddies and your inquiries are few, and you want a Cap One card, I'd app for the Quicksilver One. You'll get cash rewards from your purchases, whereas the Classic gives you nothing (although there is no AF). Maybe try the Discover preapproval site. I would only app if it gives you a firm APR, with zero range. If it gives you a range, I wouldn't apply (their preapproval site is a bit flaky and I've read about many denials). You can try CIti's, Chase's, Amex's and US Bank preapproval sites. They are all pretty solid preapprovals when it states "preapproved". Good luck! ![]()
My AAoA is 6 months for all 3 bureaus, I have 3 inquiries and out of $585 CL I have a balance of $130 which is less than 30%. I have no badies. I've never made any late payments on anything.

I agree with weedeb. I would go for the Quicksilver 1. Rack up some rewards while you're establishing/building credit. You will also be automatically enrolled in the "credit steps" program with Cap 1. If you are responsible and have on time payments for the first 5 months you will receive an auto CLI.

You are definitely right in the range of being approved. To increase your chances you might want to get your UTIL under 10% before apping. But you'll have to wait until that new balance reports for that UTIL % to show on your report. As always YMMV.
I have no badies at all and i have 3 inquiries for credit and a few for utilities but i heard that those inquiries don't ciunt, or do they? Are all the pre-approval sites soft pulls?

I will apply for the QS1 card maybe next month. I'm going to pay off that balance this month and they report around the 20th-25th of each month.
