E. You should have invitation code. That ho won't hold you back. It's golden the mailers from citi. I say go for double cash.

@Received and invitation code for DC...0% for 18 months. The APR @ 13.99% ...apped and approved for $5k. Not too thrill with the SL but I am approved so happy. This is my 2nd citi card. My util is right at 10% at approval and 10 inquiries on EX/EQ. I'm done for 2015. A total of 7 new TL since Aug 2015. My scores have dropped about 10-15 points across the board and I know I was going to take a short term hit. I wanted to group my inquiries within a short window. Garden time.

In addition, I think the huge Citigroup bailout in 2008 have made their credit department approvals a little tougher than other banks. There was a lot of stipulations in their bailout package so they will only let you in when they know for sure you won't default IMO. Me personally I am scared to apply for a US bank card. Never had their card or have dealt with them. My dad has one but his fico are in the 800s. Only $6500 CL so I know they are very tight.

US Bank gave me my first unsecured credit card, after having a secured card for a year. $8,500 starting limit, 732 FICO. They gave me a second card 2.5 months later at $6,500.

Wow ... after reading this thread ... I  may say I got lucky getting approved for CITI DC for SL $5700 about 2 months ago Smiley Happy

I was approved for a CITI Thankyou Premier almost 3 months ago, at $5400. The day the card arrived I requested a CLI to $30,000 online. Took an hour and one additional HP, but my limit was increased to $21,300.

I have yet to submit an app with us bank. I know they are very conservative. I checked their pre-equal 6 months ago and nothing came up. But then again, citi didn't have anything for me either when I got my 1st card. With quite a few inquries in the L6 months, I am reluctant to app for us bank. Congrats on your success with us bank! I would definitely take a chance on them when the bundle of inquiries I just accumulated falls off.

Re: What does it take to get approved for Citibank?

For my Citi AAdvantage card that I was approved last friday my EQ score was 674, per their letter. TONS of new accounts and inquiries in the last year and Bk still on EQ. 5k SL. Was shot down for the Double Cash though. A co branded card may be possible but YMMV

Mid 500's Spring 2014 As of 06/07/16 EQ-700^ TU-738^ EX-697v In the Garden 5/28/16! Goals 750 across the board end of 2016

Re: What does it take to get approved for Citibank?

Got approved for Citi DC last week 1700, 0% at 15 months and 22% after. call eo for a sp credit limit increase, sill waiting on response. I dont know my EQ but i do have about 12-13 inquires. TU FICO 732, EX FICO 717. They denied me earlier this year for the simplicity. Im jsut glad to be in with them. This should help me getting some of their other cards next year after a mortgage.

Re: What does it take to get approved for Citibank?

I applied for a Citi Double Cash Back Card 4 days ago. They denied me, the dirty ratsSmiley Very Happy. So, I called the recon number, and spoke to a very nice girl. She informed that they pulled Equifax, which for me has zero bad anything, 4-Credit Cards all in good standing and 6% utilization. She told me the reason that she could not approve me was because my credit history is 11 months. Other than that, she actually told me to apply again in May 2016 (6 months) and that they would have no issue approving me.

She told me that the history being less than a year was one of the things she could no override for approval. If it was based upon credit report and scores I would be fine.

EQ=697 and Report is Clean.

I am calling the EO Office Monday morning and pleading my case.
