Since then I've been getting DoubleCash mailers about once a month but at the highest APR. The last offer was lower - 20.99%.
I feel if I applied I'd get approved but with a low SL, so I'm using the mailers as a gauge and waiting for the APR to drop more before applying.
It's silly, but nice to be playing coy with the CC issuers instead of feeling like I'm begging for their attention.
If only it worked with my dating life...
Citi does Home Depot cards? I get the Double Cash prequals in the mail every couple of weeks, yet when I go to the site it says I have no prequal offers so I don't apply. I also just bought a house and opened up a 3 credit cards in the past 3 months so I am scared the inquries will deny me. I get the Home Depot prequal offers too, so if Citi does those I might try for one next year some time.
As a data point, my DW was just instantly approved for an AAdvantage Platinum Select w/ 676 TU FICO8 Bankcard and got an $8K starting limit on a cold app. Her util at the time of app was 17%.
Pretty loose underwriting IMHO. They do care about inquiries and will set your CL based upon recently-acquired credit. I was only approved for $5K with a 710-720 TU FICO8 Bankcard score a few months ago.
I'd say if you're 670+ with low INQ, you're good to go for AAdvantage!
Got the Citi denial letter in the mail today (Dec 3). It stated they could not open an account due to "limited history" (11 months).
So, today Dec 03, I called the 605 EO number and spoke to a very nice gentleman. He looked at my information and noted also that the only thing was less than year.
I explained my case, and why Citi Double Cash Card was a great fit for me.
I explained that I had spoke to the reconsideration rep, and that she saw that there was nothing except for the "limited history", and that was one thing she could not override for approval in the system. She told me if she had that authority she could not see why I couldn't be approved and to call back in a few months and they could approve me then. Thus, why I called the number to ask for help. He said he agreed that there was nothing but that one item of limited history. I have 11 months.
He said that they will look over the application again and see if they can approve an acocunt for me. He said either him or someone from his office will call me Tuesday or Wednesday next week and let me know. I thanked him, and since he seemed interested in our conversation, I went on to talk to him about my 3 year plan, and he thought it was a good plan. After that, before I hung up, he said, If we can open this account I will call you personally with the good news.
Seemed like a really nice man, and seemed genuinely interested in helping. Maybe I'm naive also, but keeping my fingers crossed. Will update after I hear what happened.

Good luck! I'm waiting for a response on my 2nd recon for the DC card.
2nd recon attempt.....no go!
The very nice lady advised me that if I had 12 months of history I would have been approved - oh whale.
After reading this, I feel better about getting declined for an increase in my DC account. Seems as if I'm not the only one. Unfortunately, not much to say about the application process - I managed to get mine despite only having about 2 years' credit history and having limited income (university student) because I switched from a Platinum Dividend to a DC after they ended Platinum Dividend cards. (The DC was new at the time, and I'm guessing they were trying to promote it, but now they're not because there's a deluge of people who want 2% cash back.)
