I'm going with time and patience... did an online app for most of my cards. Discover. Citibank AA, Citibank Costco (in store app), Chase Freedom, Chase Disney.... these all got approved after I got a mortgage in 2015... major card approvals came in 2016. Store cards were all 2015. All my bad stuff is slowly falling off. Defaulted on all my cards in 2008 and my last judgement will be removed in 2019
No preapporvals. Tried applying for several cards . Citi has to be one of the toughest ones. Hubby got approved with a thin profile at the time 630-650 for 8,000 CL.
Was extremely difficult to get in with Citi. More than any other in my sig. I got a pre-approval in the mail and still denied. Tried multiple times with multiple recons and finally approved with additional hard pull after getting a baddie off. Scores avereraged around 700 at the time.
I think it is a combo of luck, income and scores. I got a ton of marketing pieces from Citi that did not include prepproval. Finally I got one with the preaaproval. I got approved for Citi Dc. Since then I got a CLI at 6 months and a preapproval for another Citicard. I did not appy for the 2nd one. DW has never got preapproved or any mail piece from them. They also sent me a prepproval for a HD card which I gladly took for the % interest deal.
I have no clue.
Applied a few months ago with a score in the 620's and several baddies. Instantly denied.
Got the baddies removed, scores came up to the 690's, applied on a whim and got instantly approved for the Costco Anywhere Visa.
Wow,well ok this was a good read LoL
Soooooo.....did the OP slund5499 ever get in with Citi

So, today Dec 03, I called the 605 EO number and spoke to a very nice gentleman. He looked at my information and noted also that the only thing was less than year.
I explained my case, and why Citi Double Cash Card was a great fit for me.
I explained that I had spoke to the reconsideration rep, and that she saw that there was nothing except for the "limited history", and that was one thing she could not override for approval in the system. She told me if she had that authority she could not see why I couldn't be approved and to call back in a few months and they could approve me then. Thus, why I called the number to ask for help. He said he agreed that there was nothing but that one item of limited history. I have 11 months.
He said that they will look over the application again and see if they can approve an acocunt for me. He said either him or someone from his office will call me Tuesday or Wednesday next week and let me know. I thanked him, and since he seemed interested in our conversation, I went on to talk to him about my 3 year plan, and he thought it was a good plan. After that, before I hung up, he said, If we can open this account I will call you personally with the good news.
Seemed like a really nice man, and seemed genuinely interested in helping. Maybe I'm naive also, but keeping my fingers crossed. Will update after I hear what happened.
Just read the whole thread, totally worth it. I'd really like to know what happened to his reconsideration 👆👆👆 how you going to just leave us hanging?!? 😣😐
