So I've seen the backdoor numbers for Upromise VISA by Salliemae, but the card I applied for was Upromise MasterCard by Salliemae. I was denied because of too many recent applications so I'm hoping a recon can help me with that but I need the Mastercard backdoor not Visa.

Be ready to explain income, length of employment, salary, why so many inquries and or new lines of credit and any bad items. good luck
Also they don't offer a visa, its just a mastercard
Thanks OP for the inquiry. Best of luck for an acceptable outcome.
Watching for your results with great interest.
Good luck!

Great, thank you. I currently have a Barclay rewards card, I use it well and about two months ago went from $300 to $1000 (within 3 months) with the online CLI button..but I want to have ONLY rewards cards .
So did you recon your denial? If so, luck? If not, I would try up to 4 times
No luck . So they ended up doing a hard pull for the recon, should have just accepted the denial lol. But I thought what the heck i'm already denied. I do have three bad accounts (2 off December 2014 and 1 off January 2015). I also had a lot of inquires, but I guess the main thing was my history, it's not long enough. They said it's good, I've been paying more than the minimum and paying early but they want to see a longer history. So maybe on my one year with Barclay I will apply again.

Sometimes OP, you could go the recon route until you're blue in the face - bottom line is you know your profile/credit picture best so it's ultimately your decision. The recommendation mentioned above is not a miracle and will not work for everyone, all the time.
Sorry to hear that OP but if it's of any consolation you're not the only one. I still have 2 recons left after shot down twice already and i doubt anything i can do or say will change their decision, HOWEVER, yes they burned a HP on you but i would be willing to give in to good chance that in maybe 4 months or better the next time they will approve you. This happened exactly the same for me when apping for Sallie Mae in March. 4 months later Bingo! instant approval for Rewards MC. I just got shot down again trying my luck at Sallie Mae again and DENIAL X2 Recons so far citing "we want to see history on our card first" lingo. I only have my first Barclay's 3 months so i was really pushing the envelope with them.
Sorry to hear.. Also sorry to hear they did another HP.. Did they ask you if they could do one out of curiousity? Makes not alot of sense to me at least if you just applied why a lender would have to do another HP to see again unless it is with another CRA. Anyways, give you account time to age whatever you deem appropriate.
