What is the easiest unsecured card to get approved for, if no credit history?

I am a student and I just recently turned 21. I decided I should look into credit cards. First, I applied for Chase freedom because that is my bank. Denied. So I figured since I am a student that I would be approved for student credit cards. Nope. Denied from Discover IT for students and denied from capital one journey for students. Stupid companies shouldn't advertise these card as "for building credit" and "for students" if they're going to deny students that are trying to build credit.

So what is the easiest card to get approved for if I am a student with no credit history. I would rather not go the secured route.

Although you said you prefer not to go the secured route that may be the best option. I think I've read Bank of America has a $99 deposit with a $500 limit but that also needs a credit  approval. I found these myFico boards to be really helpful. They also have a rebuilding board that may have some good advice. Good luck on your credit journey!

OP, if you share your credit profile, such as FICO scores, current credit as in student loans etc and any bad marks on your CRs, I am sure many members will provide helpful guidance. Smiley Happy

If I get an amazon store card and never use it will that help me out? Or do I have to at least use the card for it to look good on my credit?

I don't think I have a FICO score. I have never taken out a loan or anything. I have nothing on my credit history at all, except maybe a few HPs now.

I am quite sure that this card has to offered after being denied for other credit cards. One can not just apply for it. The regular BofA secured card has an application.

Well, not having a FICO score will be an issue since almost all lenders use some version of it to partly determine applicant's credit risk. You should visit Credit Rebuilding form here to gain valuable insight. I don't want to provide any suggestion of my own at this point.

Well, I have one suggestion; try to stay away from predatory lenders such as Credit One. You will always have better options, you just have to find them. Good luck. Smiley Happy

The best one to start with is Capital One Platinum.

If you can't get that, then apply for a store card at a store or website you frequent.

Ok I will apply for that one. I also found the wells fargo cash back college visa. If I don't get accepted for either of these then I'll probably have to go secured.

Try the Cap One Platinum as suggested.  They took a chance with me an extended a few offers during and after my Ch. 13.  I'm still in the process of rebuilding with my goal set on a more top tier card as my accounts age and my score increases.
