...after my recent success with AMEX and Discover, I apped for Citi DC and Chase Freedom and was denied for both.
But I'm sitting here looking at the prequal for the QS1 and I want to pull the trigger - what is wrong with me?!

What was the reason for the denials? For the Chase Freedom, have you opened more than 5 accounts in the last 2 years?

Citi DC: Short history (6 months only)
Chase: Short history + too many inquiries (just financed a car so I racked up 9 INQ and the Chase rep pointed out the 9 INQ, I'm not sure why that was taken into consideration since they were done in 1 week so they should only count as 1 INQ)
You already took the hit for those so recon recon recon. Did you ask Chase and Citi for a reconsideration of your application? I can PM you Citi's CEO email address if you like, I have contacted them and have been very helpful. Chase you have to call and ask for a review of the application.

Could you please PM me the email address, I would greatly appreciate it. I have reconed with both Citi and Chase over the phone, twice each, to no avail.
Ok, I just PM'ed the email address. Good luck, hope it works out for you.

BTW, FICO scores those auto loan inquiries as one inquiry but they still show up separately on your CR, and Chase would see them as separate inquiries (Chase relies heavily on internal scoring). If you recon, point out that you were rate shopping.
Will do - thanks.
Good luck!
It's the warm glow of affirmation. Good luck with your recons, but if they don't work out, hold out on any more apps and garden for at least six months and let your history grow. Once you get tradeline history on your cc & loan you shouldn't have a problem with your scores and will likely have higher SL.
