Hubby and I are about to close on a house. We have a lot of outfitting to do with the house. How should we go about financing everything so we can add trade lines and take advantage of some cah back, rewards or special terms?
We currently have: Dillards, Best Buy, Target, Wells Fargo and USAA
We want:
More Credit Cards
Ethan Allen
American Signature
Lowes
Home Depot
Macy's Furniture
William Sonoma
Walmart
Plus to increase the CL on the current cards.
What do you suggest as the way to attack and app for these?
I wouldn't suggest getting all those store cards. You will tend to get toy limits and high APRs. out of them, maybe Lowe's is the most valuable since I believe you get an actual discount. Home Depot's is just 0% for x amount of time, no extra incentive.
I would instead focus on getting a solid cashback card. Discover does Home Improvement as a category most of the time. Even if not, a good 2% card like Double Cash or 1.5% Quicksilver is better than a bunch of tiny store cards IMO.

Definitely agreed. You can probably pull your scores up a little more and apply for the Discover card in six months, which should be when they'll give 5% back on home improvement. After that, you'll get 5% back on holiday shopping. It'll hit your prime spots and will be a better card overall. As for the Double Cash or Quicksilver, it might be a while until your scores (using them as the only factor) are good enough to get you approved.
You could always try the Discover IT "for student" version, I doubt you have to be an actual student to get it. Or even Capital One's Journey is 1.25% back if you can't do a Quicksilver yet.
Anything beats a dozen store cards, IMO. They won't grow with you.
We really want the disney card because of all the disney stuff we do and the discounts with that card. I want the Discover card for sure. we dont do any traveling so we dont need a mileage card. I definitely want cards that will grow with us but there are a few store cards we thought to get because we would get a lot of use and they usually discount for card holders like target does. still not worth it?
what scores should i be at for the cards advised on?
