What's the best way to apply for Care credit

I've put aside getting some dental work done because I needed to maintain my credit scores while purchasing new construction I plan on applying in Oct. Scores are decent. All above 700. For the highest SL possible should I apply on my own or from the dentist office? About 15 years ago I applied at dentist office scores were low 6's. I think they gave me a SL of $6500 with no interest for 48 mths. I did the site prequalify last mth and it offered $9000. probally going to need more like $20,000. I have a couple high limit cards but I need to pay over time with the lowest possible rate. E!

I'm pretty sure the max they'll give on that card is 20k. Not saying it can't happen but I wouldn't count on it. When I got mine I did it online through their prequal asking for 20k

The first time they offered me 17k but I passed on it figuring it was in the bag... Two days later when I decided I wanted to accept it, I went back and this time they only offered 6k! I declined and went through it again and they offered the 17k again so I took it and that's where it has stayed since.

I don't know if going through the dentist office will give them the option of the prequal or it will be just a straight request/app for xxx dollar amount so you may want to ask your dentist office prior to pulling the trigger. Best of luck!

Edit: there are other lenders (lending club maybe? Cant remember) out there that will lend up to 60k for medical procedures but it won't be 0% and depending on what you're looking at neither will Care Credit, I think max now for 0% is 24 months.

Doesn't matter how you apply.  If not enough possibly can always call care credit or credit solutions and ask for more and they might give you a slight bump.  Putting off dental work will just cost more in the long run likely as well as the problem likely to get worse and cost more, but just a side note that is likely obvious.

You arent kidding. Between covid (no staff or appointments) and moving, I neglected the visit about 2 years and my bill is now $6,000. I got $4,000 bc thats what I asked for. First statement hasnt cut yet, just made a purchase using 43% of CL, should I wait to call and ask for a bump or do it now?

As mentioned @Eric958 just apply on line. Its also worth noting that the promotional offer is based on the plan that the provider has set with their care credit account. Every office will vary. My dentist has the 24mo 0% plan for which I'm thankful to learn since I didn;t know how the promotional financing worked before hand.

I have no knowledge with which to answer your question, but my gut instinct says it's better to apply from the dentist's office. Just make sure they put in for the 20k limit, not some low limit that's just enough to cover their bill.

@ SouthJamaica Seems to me applying at the dentist office would help the situation especially with supporting decent scores. I think it helped me last time I applied with much lower scores. ( I don't remember them giving me the option to ask for SL amount) I guess i'll find out soon enough next month!! Thanks E!

When I did it -- and it was at the dentist's office -- the secretary input the application. I didn't know it was an actual credit card she was applying for, and that you can request a certain limit. Without asking me, she just put in the application requesting a limit identical to the amount of the anticipated bill. Imagine my consternation when I learned, after its approval, that it was a credit card and that if I used it for the dentist's bill I would be 100% maxed on the card.  So I wound up using only 28% of my new, small, limit.
