When Should I Apply?

Hi All,

I’ve been gardening since August 2018 right after I applied for BCE, my most recent account making it 1.5 yrs old now. Meanwhile my oldest account, opened Aug. 2017 is 2.5 yrs old bringing my AAoA to 2.1 yrs. I had set my garden goal for August of this year, so that my AoYA by then will be 2 yrs. My current Fico 8 scores are: 775 (EQ), 771 (TU), 768 (EX). Should I wait until then (Aug. 2020) to apply for another card, or should I do it sooner so it won’t take away a bigger portion of my AAoA?

Re: When Should I Apply?

Depends. Where are you thinking of applying, and do you have any negatives?

That said, based on your scores, you should be okay for just about anything.

Re: When Should I Apply?

I think you are clear to go for a card if it has the SUB or rewards that you need.
good job on waiting.

Re: When Should I Apply?

that's good...seems like you should be able to get approved for pretty much any cc if you start applying now.

I agree, you should be a solid approval for whatever you are looking for at this point. I would still go the pre-qualify route for added relief and any added bonuses... Good luck. Let us know how things work out for you.

I would recommend joining a credit union or two or three. Smiley Wink
