When can I apply for a second Capital One

I was approved for a Cap1 QuickSilver SL at 10K about 2.5 months ago.

I have 4 total cards with a total TL of 17600.

I want to redo my kitchen and although I'm paying mostly in cash I will be putting about 8K on a card.

So, I want to apply for a second Cap1 card so that my UTI will not go through the roof and extend the time I have for 0% intro APR.

Does anybody know the minimum wait time between 1rst and 2nd Cap1 cards?

Hi! It's six months. I personally asked a CSR. She said that I can app anytime for a new card, but it "may" be denied if a card has been approved in the previous six months. Also, others on MyFico also state that the wait time is six months.

Re: When can I apply for a second Capital One

I started with a Platinum secure in March with a very low limit. I used the heck out of the card running it up and paying it off multiple times (4-5 each month) for a couple months and got a small increase. Shortly after in June (LESS than 3 months between cards) I apped for QS1 and was instantly approved. 4 months after that got a 4K increase and was able to product change to regular QS MC (no AF). I think it really helped that I was using their card a LOT and not carrying any balances over.

The 6 month rule did not go into effect until after July 2016 thus allowing you to get another card so soon.

Yep, the 6 month mark is the key to a second card - although 2-3 months is an awesome time to seek a CLI on the first card

Re: When can I apply for a second Capital One

For those with a second card. I have been and plan to continue to charge about 3k/month on my QS and PIF every month. When I get a second card should I expect at least a SL close to my first one? Note that my UTI will remain low (4-5%)...

I got 3 from them in 8 months, don't remember my starting limits but second card came in my third month and third in my 8 month but that was last year so I'd wait the 6 months now

Re: When can I apply for a second Capital One

I'm looking to get a 2nd Cap1 card and was wondering what others with a second card usually get for a SL?

I got my first about 8 months ago (10K QuickSilver) which got bumped up to 11K 2 months later.

My scores are better now than they were then. Mid to High 600's then and just over 700's now.

I remodelled my kitchen and floors throughout my house and charged almost all of it to this card, about 30k.

I pay it off almost immediately and currently only have about 250.00 on it.
