When did US Bank start Cash+ online app?

Noticed that you can now apply online for the Cash+ on the US Bank website.  When did they start doing that?

Of course you can. Now that it is significantly less useful, why not open it up to everyone?

Interesting. Even though restaurants is no longer a 5% category I might go for this as I recently joined a gym and could use the 5% for that. Plus 2% restaurants beats 1.5% on my QS. Since this is online now I somehow feel more of an incentive to apply.

I'm just too scared of them taking away the remaining useful categories. I would consider applying because I do eat fast food more than I should (5% still) and you can still get 5% on a few somewhat useful categories.

That said, this card is constantly changing the categories, so I'm not applying for it....too much risk. Any category card can of course change or nerf categories (the Citi Dividend was nerfed into oblivion), but the US Bank card seems to particularly be suspectible to nerf.

I'd be careful applying because of a certain category. Also, with regard to 2% vs 1.5% for dining....that's gonna add up to a relatively small amount of money, IMO may not be worth adding a card. But depends.

Agreed with the 2% vs 1.5%. I have other options as well such as the cell phone category and also fast food. I feel like I would prioritize the gym for the 5% and if that category got nerfed I'd be sad but I could replace it with something.

Re: When did US Bank start Cash+ online app?

I like the idea of the cell phone category. I'd earn $7.50 a month from it (my cell bill for myself and roommate is $150 ish), vs $2.25 with my Quicksilver. So that is $5 more a month, on that one category.

I dunno what other category I could use. Department stores possibly, but my spend is not exactly heavy there. I dunno.

Must have been in the last three days. Checked a card comparison three days ago and it still was contact the branch. As to the nerfing, the card is down to the virtual equivalent of a Citi Dividend, Chase Freedom or DIscover it card now. So, think about whether it is really fitting your spending pattern. Got so displeased I product changed my Cash+ account to another US Bank Card and closed the US Bank Cash+ VS. None of the remaining 5% or 2% categories are relevant for my spend pattern Smiley Wink

Re: When did US Bank start Cash+ online app?

Since it's such a recent change is it possible that their preapproval tool hasn't been changed to show Cash+ as a result? Still only shows contour for me unless prequal still depends on residence state.

This card was next on my list because of 5% restaurants awhile back and then I removed it when that category was gone. With my new gym membership and some other categories being useful (phone, fast food) for my spending pattern, I'd like to go for it.

Re: When did US Bank start Cash+ online app?

I decided to apply for it as I need a 5% for the  times when my discover, freedom, dc, bcp does not cover a category.  Got the 7-10 message.  I guess thats normal.  I will update when i hear something back.
