When did you app for NFCU CC #3 - and what was your result?

Apped CashRewards 5/13/18 - Approved SL 10K

Apped GoRewards 8/14/18 - Approved SL 15K

No immediate plans for third card, but definitely will in the future. When did you go for card #3, 91 days or six months after card #2?

Also recommendations for 3rd Navy Card, I know all but one have no annual fee. Does anyone have a specific rec for card #3 with no annual fee through Navy from personal experience? Do I go for a duplicate of one of the other two or a third new one?

*EDIT* I know about the NFCU CLI/ 3rd card thread thank you. I am looking for personal responses to this question vs digging through a long thread.

Re: When did you app for NFCU CC #3 - and what was your result?

OP, the outcome will largely depend on your overall profile including DTI. IME, I was able to get approved for a 3rd CC within 7 months of being approved for the 1st. Though, my scores hover around ~800 (FICO) and 20+ years of established tradelines.

In reading your other thread, is your strategy to keep most of your banking relationship with NFCU? What is your long term goal by having a 3rd CC? Are you looking for a BT CC mix in addition to the Cash Rewards and the GoRewards?

There's a plethora of information in that NFCU mega-thread, believe or not. And as long as I've been with the forums, it was still very valuable to me reading the majority of it since the information and DPs tend to evolve quite a bit.

Original app for CashRewards ($5k, now $25k)was 8/2016. GoRewards($2.5k, now$9k) 6/2017, Flagship($12.9k) 3/2018.

Also have a CLOC @$15k, NFCU says I'm currently at max unsecured
NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

I got approved for my third card today. 3 cards in 9 months. 2 of them have much lower limits but they'll grow over time.

Once your GoRewards hits 91/3 you can App for another. If you tried now it would prob say your recent card is too new.

The Plat is good for carrying a balance or balance transfer
Flagship is being upgraded to 2%
More Rewards is great for groceries gas etc.

There's some better rewards cards out there so maybe App the platinum and transfer some balances to it (generally lower APR)

Yes, my long term goal is to establish a strong credit profile. What appeals to me the most about NFCU is the low APR's and the monster credit lines. I find it much easier to manage a few big credit cards (all on the navy app) vs managing 10 cards with say a few hundred each CL. The NFCU customer service has also been exceptional. I am trying to phase out my smaller, less useful cards and build upwards an arsenal of cards with no annual fee which grow steadily.

In say 2-3 years time I'd like to have a solid maybe 5 (I know the NFCU limit is 3) I mean 5 in general good reliable cards with larger limits for easier managment.
