When should I apply for a new line of credit?

I am closing on the 27th of this month and I need to do some renovations to my new home before we move in. I am above 30% of my utilization on all 3 of my credit cards - $5500 used out of $6500. I would like to start my renovations as soon as possible as my family and I are relocating to another state. Should I pay down my credit cards before I apply for a new line of credit? Does it matter? Congrats on your new home. I would definitely get the utilization down before applying for any new credit.

Any time you apply for credit, its always best to try and lower utilization. Your odds will go way upSmiley Wink

I've thought about that a few tmes, and wonderd if it can be a double edged sword?

My current util is 3%, on $95K avialable credit. Surely if I have that much available, CCC might feel I don't need anymore.
