You will gain your best initial SL and approvals when you carry the lowest balances. They know because as a current customer they SP your credit multiple times per month. They can track if your balances are consistently high or low and they will give you more credit - the less it appears that you need it. Once you have revolving lines with them they'll let you run with them - but they are pretty averse to opening lines for people who appear to carry big balances with others.
