Re: When will I learn???

OP- I've been there before. Maybe I missed this somewhere in the thread, but what cards to you have now? Do you have at least one to help build up your score? I found some capitalone paperwork on some old platinum cards I opened in 2010-2011, the score on the back of them was 580-590. Granted, I only got a starting limit of $300 dollars, it was a start.

Have you pulled a credit report from myfico, check your fico 04 or the mortgage scores they give. Mine are always much higher than my 08 fico's. Your scores might be a little bit higher too and that can give you leverage when you go to apply for something next, especially with capitalone.

Re: When will I learn???

I have a cap1 secured that I will be adding to this week as well as getting a secured card through sdfcu and some store cards. I go do the SCT all the time just to turn cards down. It feeds the beast lol

So about a week and a half ago I lost my mind an apped for Walmart, and after some serious reading about perks, benefits and approval rates, the Shell gas card. 7-10 day message on both. Synchrony sent an email within 2 days with a denial, and I never heard from shell. So I called them today, and yep, they denied me. I have GOT to quit reading how easy certain cards are to get. I know better. But I app anyway, because, clearly, hope springs eternal. So do denials, for me at least. If I ever get out from under this credit disaster, it will be a miracle. Thank you, dear old ex husband of mine, for leaving me this legacy to clean up. You butthead. I shouldn't be surprised at my dumb move to keep apping. After all, I married him, and that was not so bright either. Ugh. Ok. Tomorrow is another day, and hopefully I will be less mad at myself.

But for those who are desperately trying to get a credit card, PLEASE, learn from my mistakes. It doesn't matter how many people say a credit card is easy to qualify for. Because it isn't easy at all for some folks.  Ok. Going into my corner to suck my credit app signing thumb and sulk now.

nevermind the others, the most important thing is, did you learn from all these denial?

Don't get discouraged, I'm right there with ya.

Synchrony hates me and I'm dying to sneak in the door, but no such luck.  I've tried Walmart so many times and keep getting denied.  So far I see that you are doing great, started with a 513 score and now at 586.  You will get there and start receiving approvals probably once to hit the 600 mark, which you are very close.

My scores are lower than you and I was able to get approved for some Commenity store accounts, such as Express and Victoria Secret.

I'm just trying to be patient and tryng to improve my scores so I can start apping for the prime cards.

Starting Score 7/15/15 EQ 562 | TU 557 | EXP 556 Current Score EQ 601 | TU 622 | EXP 632

Some secured cards with a high limit would help more, and you don't even have to buy things to get and retain a credit limit increase.

Being "desperate" for credit is precisely why people get denied.

sad.

It's the way of the world. Those who are in need (generally) pay more for equivalent services than those who don't.
