Well I've just read the entire thread again and Gmood1 has really imparted a lot of knowledge here. I second what he said about the impact INQs and Cards Reporting on credit scores. I opened a Chase Freedom and a US Bank Cash+ on 12/28. (That's what counts as a spree to me
) . My scores didn't budge with inquires to TU and EX. The Chase card then reported as a new account on 1/13 and my EX score fell 3 points but I just got an alert this morning that it was back at 701 which is where it was before the most two recent inquiries. The US Bank card will report on 1/31 so we'll see what that impact is.
After reading through this thread I realized I have a EQ FICO 9 score of 792 with only 1 inquiry. Perhaps its time to hit up PenFed for a Power Cash Rewards Card so I can get the 2% cashback since I already have a checking account with them. Thanks for the distillation of all that knowledge and experience.

That's awesome MB! Mine was a 785 last I checked. Way more INQs than you .lol
Its tempting knowing they will only pull EQ which almost no one else in my experience uses. But I'm tempering it with the fact that I've only been with them since 9/28 (four months). When I opened checking and savings accounts I apped for the PCR but they declined stating my EX FICO 9 was only 712 and that I had "maximum open-end credit." They did approved me for the Promise Visa with a $14,500 SL. But to me the Promise is only valuable as a BT card and I don't carry balances.
So has enough time elapsed or should I wait at least 6 months?
Well I guess we'll see...
"Thank you for applying with PenFed. Your application is currently being reviewed by one of our loan officers. We will contact you within 24 – 48 hours with more information."
I was told that it could take up to a year for me to get offers based on AR so I was prepared to wait. If approved I'll try to move some of my Promise Visa over since I haven't used it after qualifying for the SUB.
It was two years before I saw the SP preapprovals after joining. It started after Penfed moved to Fico 9 scoring. I have my fingers crossed for you. 😀 Good luck!
Hopefully later today or tomorrow you'll know something.
Thanks. The wait is already too long
but hopefully it works out and I'll be able to get that Pixel XL 2. I would have never thought of applying before 6 months had elapsed without seeing your comments in this thread.
Now its Lancelot99's turn.

Yes, plotting the CRAs pulled and which is a HP/SP is seemingly critical to planning this out well. Thank you for all the knowledge shared!
I'm especially grateful now that I'm out of purgatory and can finally utilize that credit score wisely with your information / knowledge!
That's helpful to know. I suspect for me, my spree is probably 2 cards, maybe 3 at most too, lol, but I guess conservatively I just want to see the impact on my scores myself. Then I can use all the information gleaned from this thread to go about this in an organized fashion to minimize impact. I'm looking forward to applying this knowledge. The toughest part is going to be figuring out which CCs to get!
