With 1-2 flights a year, may I ask why you want a Delta card?
With the Platinum, I don't think you actually need it (Delta) with the amounts of flights you take, but if you were to get one, I'd get the gold just for the free bags. If you don't want free bags, you could go blue.
Im at a crossroads myself also, as my Platinum and Delta Reserve overlap each other quite a bit with the new changes coming.
Goid luck.

I fly 2 or 3 times a year. I paid $44 for 4 roundtrip domestic fares in the last year. Was totally worth it for me.
EDIT: missed the already have Platinum part.
I like Delta Platinum with my Schwab Platinum.
SkyClub access is nice when I travel solo. When with a companion and the flight gets canceled, the ability to run into a SkyClub and skip the line in the terminal to rebook is great...especially for a non-elite. The companion certificate is nice and worth the incremental AF.
That said, I'm not sure if I'd have either one if I just flew once or twice a year.
I have the Gold now - first year free. Unless you're certain you need the benefits of the Platinum, why not start with the Gold?
I doubt I'd make use of the Platinum myself (don't travel domestically with my partner at the moment), but it's a worthwhile card for those who do.
I went with the Delta Platinum just for the free companion fare. My wife has the Delta Platinum as well so we essentially get 2 free tickets a year. Even with the new higher fee we will keep ours.
