The one huge advantage of CSP is that you can transfer points to many different FF programs 1:1. However, I don't like how you can only get 2 points for each dollar spent on just Travel/Dining. I believe that's how it works?
I recently applied for the Venture, simply because I wanted a reward card with some travel benefits, and that is the best card I could get at this point in time just recently coming off BK 13 discharge. With the Venture, I can purchase airline tickets with the card using my FF program of choice, then use the Venture purchase eraser for an account credit on that purchase using miles. I will benefit by gaining the miles for my FF program, miles on my Venture, and can use the purchase eraser with enough miles. I also gain Venture miles on any purchase. However, the best benefit is that they are giving me an opportunity to use their card. ![]()
I would love to have a card like the CSP or DC, that will have to wait. ![]()
There's a huge advantage to me...I won't get accepted for an Amex or Citi card right now.
It is what it is, no math involved.
Thank you all for the valuable insights. When I app, will definitely revive this thread and update what happened.
One of the reasons I come to this Board is that I get to see 360 degree perspective.....not just biased views like others (don't want to name the boards here
)
Did I miss something? I didn't find mention of the hotel cards...and to me, that's where the biggest bonuses come back.
Specifically the IHG Hotel card...this card gives back an unreal amount of points, especially when you purchase the 5,000 bonus points when you book 2 nights. In addition to this, there's the quarterly bonus points (ie. Share Forever) right now that includes more bonus points.
I also pay $10 each night for the 5,000 bonus points which usually works out to $20. 5,000 bonus points works out to 1/3 of a free night so I pay $20 to get about $40 worth of hotel credit.
Bonus points alone for me this year should be 80,000 signup bonus + 200,000 from various bonuses (Share Forever, 5,000 bonus points for $20, etc, etc).
Approximately 280,000 points for pretty much my normal spending = 18 free nights at 15,000 points per night.
I suspect with your so frequent travel, you could probably rack up 500,000 points a year good for a month of free nights at lower tier (Holiday Inn) hotels or 15 days at the fancy places ![]()
@Creditflunky, thanks for the inputs. I didn't give it a thought about Hotel cards...that's something I can think of.
Is there a card which helps me benefit both in travel and stay? or am I becoming too greedy ![]()

I guess I can repeat this until im blue in the face and no one will care but ill try one last time.
There is no, zero, zilch, nada advantage to using a venture for travel or any other purchase over a double cash or fidelity amex. You get the same old 2 percent. On venture its marketed as miles but it is the same thing. There is nothing extra you are getting and in fact youre also paying a fee.
You will get 2 percent on every purchase with DC or fidelity with no restrictions. I know venture makes the "miles" seem special but seriously...its a 2 percent back card. If you like it better for whatever reason, its fine, as humans are strange creatures and we cant always apply logic to our decisions. But mathematically there is zero reason to use venture over free alternatives. But I have said it 100 times and am tired of repeating it so my new response is: to each his own
In support of this post - the only reason to get the Venture is when you need a 2% cash back card with no FTF. Even then, the savings from no FTF must be higher than the Venture's AF (else you are better off with a DC or FidAmex).
The sign-up bonus is not the best but still very nice. It does come at the cost of a triple pull ![]()
