Howdy!!
I recently just got the Discover it card mid-Feb (probably the 9th-12th). My reporting date (according to my papers that I got with the card) is on the 27th of the month. Sure enough on 02/27/2018 they reported to the Credit Bureaus and I got that credit boost. That was the fastest of any credit card I have gotten. My AMEX took 90 days to show up. If you are considering waiting until after you have one card, this could possibly happen for you with Discover. I am not sure about NFCU though.
I know it wasn't 100% what you were looking for but, I think it could help in the decision making Good luck!

Thanks so much! I was actually thinking also in terms of inquiries and how fast they would show up...
I only have three right now (and none scheduled to come off anytime soon)...
So you're saying do Discover first, then NFCU? I think I'm confusing myself! 😂
Perhaps NFCU would be better first Discover isn't all that bad on INQ's.
Although both are more forgiving than others on inquiries, I would do Navy then Discover on the same day. Navy will most likely pull TU for you; depending on where you are Disco may pull another of the three and not touch TU

Thinking about applying for both NFCU cashRewards and Discover IT cards in the next two weeks. Should I do them both at the same time so that the inquiries fall off the same time? Or should I build a relationship with one before applying for the other?
If I do them on the same day, which should I apply for first? Will one see the inquiry from the other? Walk me through this... 😂
If you want a discover, and want to try to reduce/eliminate HP... sign up for the free credit scorecard service from discover.. Free monthly FICO but (they also) use it in credit decisions....
Id do that now. and as some have suggested... App for Navy first, then Disco. but you dont have to wait for either.....
Shouldnt have a negative effect on SP/HP.. (As in. yes they will likely use that as one of the scores) It might have a slight effect on CL... What score reported on CS? Still will likely SP a different CRA in addition for the card approval.... (Yes if its an SP discover they still SP 2 reports not just one, but one of them will be the scorecard pull....)
Also should mention that like the SCT.... there will be an effect (likely positive) on your scores once the card reports the open tradeline.. You just dont get the HPs..... It is still possible to get a pull with this technique, but currently folks have been getting them with no HP.... (just want to put the disclaimer...)
