Which to apply for?

My girlfriend is trying to build her credit. I pulled her Equifax today and she has a 607 FICO. She has very limited credit:

The baddie:

1 collection account (medical) for $875 from 7/2014

on the positive side, she has the following:

Revolving account for furniture store: 889 balance / 1000 limit (no lates) opened May 2013

My Car: 12500 balance (no lates) opened Sept 2013

Her Car: 18000 balance (no lates) opened Aug 2013

She's self employed and gets paid in both cash and check, so income is sometimes hard to prove. She brings home about 1600 per month.

Thanks!

FICO 8:

Re: Which to apply for?

It looks like it's for students, and the app asks for school information

Agree with BoA secured. It's like $99 deposit for $500 limit and has a very high success rate of unsecuring.

Doesn't matter. They don't really care. Journey > All other CapOne rebuilders/no credit history cards.

I thought the app just asked if you were a student or not. If you select "no," it wouldn't ask for school info? (Maybe the app's changed since I last looked at it)

Re: Which to apply for?

Correct, it only asks for school info if you tell it that you're a student. Since the card is aimed at students, I figured choosing 'no' would be an immediate denial.

We ended up applying for the QS1 card, and she was approved for $300. Then, just out of curiosity, we applied for the Capital One Platinum, and got approved for $3000!
