Free FICO score, high spending limits (which cushion smy uti; highest sl that I have currently), SP when you req CLI, and good customer service.

Total Credit Line- $89,300| Personal- $78,650 | Biz- $5,650
Current Score [F9]: EX-721 || TU-759 || EQ-768 || AAoA-2yrs7mo || uti- 1% || 100% payment history || 9 inq

Re: Why Discover.

Also for many accounts you can get double points for the first year..... (but the extra points will be doled out on your anniversary date)....

You can double 5%

You can double referral bonuses

You can even stack Discover Deals with double points..

Cashing out points is quick, easy and doesn't have say 25 or 50$ minimums..

Also if you use them for foreign transactions no FTF.. .. Iv used them for some Paypal and for some UK orders and it works..

Also accepted via Diners Club/JCB/Unionpay abroad (but it doesn't always work according to some, you also MUST tell Discover your traveling or it wont work)

Iv actually become fond of Discover with the SP CLI's, and I like their online portal for billing/statements/FICO scoring...

The gotcha.. its not Visa/MC/Amex.... but iv seldom had an acceptance problem in my area or in day to day use...

Re: Why Discover.

It's funny.... pre Obama years when the card companies were soooooo different... Discover was a PITA and nobody liked them. Small limits, no CLi.. hard to get. It was a card everyone wanted and then nobody wanted to keep.

After-they changed. Everything about them changed. It's great to see a company make changes that make them money and their customers happy.

What's a PITA? Like the piece of bread? Smiley Tongue

On OP's topic though I think almost everything has already been said at least once. I get the extra $20/yr for my grades as a student which is a nice bonus especially as I used each of my two bonuses for a $25 gift card. The CSR's have all been knowledgable and on the ball with a short wait time which is probably the biggest reason I love Disco. Something that you'd hopefully not need but is nice is that they sent a replacement card Fedex overnight when I needed it (original card was lost in the mail...).

Re: Why Discover.

Initially applied because i wanted one card from each main network. They have simply amazed me in the year and a half i have had them. Credit limit started at 3500 and to date is 26000. All SP CLI. Customer service is great whenever i call. I think its a cool feature to be able to have different designs up to five i believe. Also i noticed the other day if i wanted to take advanatage promotion they just deposit the cash straight into my bank account. Pretty cool overall to have.

Re: Why Discover.

I like Discover because they gave me a $5500 sl with okay scores and a BK still on my record.

Re: Why Discover.

Mine is only 1% cash back on all purcharses but it does have the 5% cash back categories quarterly.   I just got my card and Discover was very generous with the SL of $7500.  I like it so far and its my hightest CL.  And after having credit one, Discover's customer service is amazing and I can understand what they are saying.

Re: Why Discover.

In the first year (half the year), you get essentially get 10% off of all Amazon purchases. I have saved over $300 alone just with Amazon in my first year of having the card.
