These replies are great!!! My mother is from the old school of "why do I need credit if I can just save and buy it?". Well, my father passed unexpectedly and left her with a bunch of debt even with life insurance. She has risen from the ashes and was really proud of herself as she has a Capital one (secured) and Chase Freedom card. She just had a momentary lapse in judgement and now a hard pull for nothing. But, thanks to the marriage license comment, and the sunglasses hut card... the sun still rose this morning and she feels a bit better. Thanks all!
At the beginning of January I apped for AMZ Sync. I apped because I had just lost the 5% quarterly on my Discover and still wanted 5% at AMZ.
5 days later AMZ Chase changed from 3% to 5% for Prime members.
I was approved for both but I really wish I could take back the Sync app and Inq.
Best Buy.
Cashier said it was SP. She had no clue. It was HP.
I was expecting the Visa/MC. I ended up with the Store Card.
I closed it a year later.
Paypal by Comenity. Hidden tradeline!
I have no use for it since I rarely shop at the places that accept Paypal, and I quickly wondered why I'd applied for it... I'm letting Comenity close it from disuse whenever they get to it.
Barclay Ring. I wanted a low APR (under 10%) and no FTF card, and I got it. But I like rewards better so I rarely use it. I like the idea of the card. I just don't need it since I PIF and have recently gotten a PenFed and NavyFed card which also have no FTF. It's going in the SD and I'll likely let Barclay close it from disuse.
No judgement here 😂
Great replies!
I have cards I got approved for that I did the same thing with, but they are atleast affecting my credit positively. I also have 2 marriage licenses, and 2 divorced decrees. The moral of the story? I must like making mistakes. I am an idiot. Not sure where I was going with that but I guess I got there in the end.
I got a SCT pop up on Overstock looking for a rug. I hated that I didn't know the starting limit before going through. Should've closed out. Some reason I thought Comenity pulled TU and it was 697 so I was confident.
But I don't even shop OS. I've never bought anything there. I always look and then end up finding similar cheaper somewhere else.
They gave me a $250 starting limit. Asked for CLI on set-up...denied. Every time I review my report I am angry at that trade line
And Kohl's. I don't even like Kohl's. I hope to get my 6-month CLI to $700 (or whatever) and plan to close it soon after.

Mic dropped...HUGS to Mom
Hahahaha! Mic drop! Priceless!
I applied for 1 store card that I didn't end up using. Stupid! Wasn't thinking I guess. Did that a few months ago...I'll probably even close it soon. For now it's giving me a utilization boost I guess. I stay away from store cards too. Some interesting responses here.
