Thanks, that makes sense, also just to clear up 1 small thing, I'm not debating whether or not the 90 day rule is fair or not, I was just curious why they would implement that rule in the first place, and continue to implement the rule when their competitors don't. Especially because they don't have a recon department.
yes, in my situation the policy was slightly ankoying at first because the CSR didn't understand me and applied for a CLI on my behalf, which reset the 90 day clock and also made me ineligible to possibly try for the 61 day request had that been an option. (Since I was denied for my fico score)
That was the main reason why I made this thread, I wanted to understand more about the decision itself. But I am grateful it's not 6 months between denials.

Most banks allow you to apply anytime, but auto disapprove if less than 6 months. At least amex doesn't waste your time until they'll actually consider it.
Another very good point, why let someone apply if you are just going to auto deny them? Is it just to give people the illusion that their request was legitimately considered?That never made much sense either.
