Re: Why does Barclays hate me?

I'm estimating your balances are around $3,500 total? Is that all on one card or a few? I'm kind of confused because your scores are pretty low especially after gardening for two years.

How many new accounts have you opened since leaving the garden?

Never ever had a card with them before.  I understand Citi, AMEX and Chase being difficult but Barclays?

This is what I have.  Just came out of a 2 year gardening.  Around 20% util, is that why they are being picky???  No lates ever.  $30k student loans, no mortgage.  AAoA stinks for sure.  Real FICOs in my signature - Barclays is pulling my TU.  Each has 4 or 5 INQ - 5 others just fell off recently.  Recon didn't work!  I hate calling for recon too, I know you have to but I HATE IT.  I'm so awkward and it never works.

VS $500

Lowes $500

Discover (gave me $5,100 2 years ago when my Cap1 Platinum was around $1,200) still at $5,100

Cap1 Platinum (old credit steps) $4000

Cap1 QS1 (still in credit steps LOL) $850

QVC $1,400

Kohls $300

Target $1,000

Amazon Store Card $1,200

Walmart - just approved - $1,200

BoA - just approved - wheeee! - $2,000

PSECU personal loan - $3,000 ($2,300 remaining due, should I be calculating that in my util?)

I am a new to Barclays. I researched them on the forum before applying for their Ring credit card. According to the forum, they are cautious of new accounts and a lot of inquiries. Allowing your accounts to age would be a good strategy. While your waiting for your AAoA to increase, your inquiries will be aging too. I would visit the garden while your accounts and inquires are aging. Good luck!!!

Try the Frontier card by Barclay. I have tried almost every card from them and last week I try this one and I got it with 2,500 limit. I paid the $15 to rush the card had it in 4 days.

Re: Why does Barclays hate me?

I recently after having the card for 1.5 months requested a CLI...denied, but the reason they gave me was kind of strange...

"You have too much available credit on other cards"  ...my limit with them is $1500, I racked up about $1000 in charges and PIF. Why does it matter that I have credit available on other cards as many others on here have others cards with huge limits and still manage to get increases.

When I first applied, it was back in Novemeber with only 2 months  of 'rebuild' and 2-3 cards reporting, they said I needed to show more history and positive payments. They always commend people on there rebuilding stages and are typically easy to recon with. They like to ask questions, you should be prepared with answers. They asked me about my past collection accounts, I simply said I lost my job and a serious death in the family. They were understanding and said show some more history and try again in about 6 months.

Long story short, I tried again 3 months later, got denied and had to recon. Same ol story, asked me about my baddies, I rebuttled and told them what happened. They did say "I can see you have been making an effort to rebuild your credit and can see you've been making payments on other cards on time. Instantly approved for $1k, called 20 minutes later and requested a CLI, which they added another +$500. My scores at the time were low 600's, as they are now. Utilization was roughly 6% overall. AAOA like 2 years maybe + 5-7 INQ. They asked about my inquiries as well, I just told them I am trying to rebuild and I understand you take some dings in the process and that is why I had X amount of INQ, he was very understanding. It can definitely be a hit or miss, they want to approve you but you have to almost make them feel easy and comofrtable in doing so. I had to sweet talk them and didn't mind putting in the effort to recon and try my best as it was in my best interest to do so.

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you!

Re: Why does Barclays hate me?

Listen let me tell you, if you want Chase, citi or Amex I suggest you apply before applying with them! I had a card back in 2013 with them (not a strong score at the time) and a few blemishes I was/still am in the rebuilding phase on my credit. I made the mistake of apping for a few cards and being approved for a few and Barclays closed my account, for that reason. My husband who has steller credit just recently had one of his barclay cards closed for new accounts opened and no activity on the card that was closed! He had the card for a little over 3 years. I told him he should just close the priceline card down before they decided to close that one to for inactivity! At the end of the day I have my Chase and BOA cards that I use and I find them more beneficial and more accomadating then having a credit company watching my every move and closing my account because I wanted to establish some credit. I know everyones situation is different and some will swear that Barclays is the best but for some Barclays can be a nightmare to deal with.

Good luck and I hope you get what you seek Smiley Happy  Just my 2 cents.
