First off, I'm just beginning to really learn about credit cards. I want to apply for the Chase Sapphire card mainly due to the travel rewards which would benefit me greatly as I plan to do some overseas traveling this summer. I've done some hefty research in attemping to learn everything about CC's and comparing and contrasting several different cards. Here is my situation and current stats (Scores may not be accurate since from CK):
Equifax: 744, Transunion: 700
1 BOA Credit Card with CL of $5000. Opened for 10 Months
Age of Credit History: 2 yrs 1 Month
Here is where my situation also becomes a little more complicated. I will begin working a job with a yearly salary of $90K starting in 2 months. Will be completing my degree at a University in 1 month. Will I be able to report my new salary? And how is my current Scores/Credit history stand in terms of being accepted for Chase Sapphire?
Thank you all greatly in advance!
Have you checked Chase's pre-qualifier yet (if they still have it)? If you're 100% sure that you have the job for sure and will be making that income, then I don't see why you can't include it - but it might be an issue if they require income verification. Might be best to just put your current income (household income if you're over 21) and then update your income once you start the job.
I think with your profile, you have a pretty good chance - a better chance at the Freedom, but if you want the CSP go for it.
Thank you very much for the reply!
Is income verification a process often used? And reading through older forums, I kept reading people refer to Chase's pre-qualifier. However, I wasn't able to find it so I don't believe they have it anymore.

No not really with Chase, but you never know. And I read the other night that Chase's pre-qualifier went missing, so I think they took it down. Just go for it, the worst they can say is no

It's not gone
Thanks! I don't see it on their website anymore; how did you find it?

Thank you for the link! Unfortunately, when I attempt to use it says there are currently no offers due to me possibly opting out of "pre-screened" offers from Chase. No clue what that's implying lol. I don't recall doing anything, but thanks though.
Here is an additional quest. I'd also like to throw out there: Is it better to apply online or in person at a Chase office?
Unless you have a personal banker to help push it through for you, I don't think it makes a difference which way you app. Chase's pre-qualifier is pretty solid, so I'm a little hesitant to tell you to app for it. Are you over 21 years old? I ask because pre-qualifiers won't work unless you are.
Have you tried Capital One's pre-qualifier? Their Venture and Quicksilver cards are decent, and much easier to get than the CSP.
Sorry for the late message! I am 21 years old and no I haven't looked into those cards much. I'm beginning to lean more towards BOA Travel Rewards card lately. I'm a preferred customer so I would get 1.875x pts on everything whereas CSP is limited to travel & dining. CSP's bonus offer of 50k is really good, though. BOA's is 20k with other perks including no AF and 0% interst first 12mos.
