I have Citi Custom card for the last one year and I have been showing big spendings since it got opened to earn SUB and for other reasons, yet still I am NOT getting any CLI and I am wondering why....Does anyone experience the same?? They are not giving me any specific reason...There is no changes in my scores or credit reports when CLI requests were made....I thought Citi does offer CLI every 6 months, but this account NEVER got any increase since it opened....Any hunch??
They should give a reason in e-communication letter later that night or next day. Usually lately mine has been too many new credit cards applied for or along those lines. Mine sits at 31k which is more than needed for said card by far with that said was converted from another CC, but got a few SP CLI's on it as well before I went on an app-o-rama

I did the sub for $200 in the first 3 months by using 95% of the starting limit ($1750) and paying it all down to zero within x4 months within the 18mo 0%apy promo. Then I utilized the 0%apy balance transfer offer for 80% of my starting limit and a few days after the new balance transfer hit, they bumped me up another $500, putting me at $2250.
All of that happened within 7 months Total (cli happened in month 7).
I'll be paying off my 12mo 0%apy bt early as well (within 3 months of getting it) and expect another cli at 12 months.

Have you opened any other credit card accounts since you opened this one? You might just have as much credit as they are willing to extend to you right now based on your current reports/scores. I've always been able to get some increase on my Citi cards every 6 months even if it was only $500 but its no guarantee. If you have applied for new credit and your scores aren't actually improving since you opened your account with them then that could be a red flag and the reason your not getting CLIs.

You're eligible to ask every six months, whether you receive it or not its up to Citi.
If you have two or more new accounts in the past six months, you'll probably continue to see denials.
I've received increases with less than $5.00 in spend over six months, and I've gotten denials with large spend but with plenty of new accounts.
As mentioned upthread, every time you ask, Citi generates a letter, it's in your account, so read them and see if that's the reason.

If you're applying for a CLI and being declined, I'm sure they're giving you reasons. They always send me a letter electronically the day after the decline.

Yes, they have sent denial letter electronically and by snail mail as well...but they only stated that information on my credit reports but irony is nothing changed in my reports nor even score when CLI requested...No changes whatsoever....

I have another Citi card- Rewards one wherein I always used to get CLI in every 6 months without even soending a dime but dont know what happened in the last 12 months that Im not getting any CLI since it was denied on my Custom card...Again, no changes whatsoever occured in ny credit reports when CLI was requested...Thats why Im surprised too...No CLI at all on Citi cards ...nothing on Discover not even once in 3 yrs and nothing on Bank of America in 3 years...I have no idea why...

Take a closer look at the denial letter. In the opening paragraph, before it makes reference to the credit report, it gives you the reason. In my most recent letter it said:
"Hi, [SouthJamaica]. We reviewed your request to increase the revolving credit limit on your Citi
Premier® Mastercard® account. At this time, we're unable to approve this request
because your credit report shows too many recent inquiries."
I think that's the reason they always give me

The denial letter I received only indicates that- because of information on my credit report...and they named the credit reporting agency, but did not say WHAT information is wrong/negative which influenced their decision negatively. I did check my credit report 100 times to see anything wrong or any new info reported in last 7 months but found nothing...Contacted Citi and was told just that I just get my latest credit report and review it...I told them that I got latest one and found nothing, but they were not able to tell me specific reason what info is troubling them...eventually, one credit analyst said that its computer generated decision and sometimes system does make errorenous decision and said that they cannot override it, and suggested me to request for CLI again after 30 days ...Its hard to believe them sometimes...
