Wonky, Possibly Idiotic BOA App Questions

Lately I’ve been getting an invitation to app for BOA’s Travel Rewards card. The APR is fixed so I’m guessing it’s a firm offer of credit but I have a couple of questions:

I have a Cash Rewards card with a 17k limit. I’ve never carried a balance greater than 1k on it and I always pay in full. I bank with BOA and TU Ficos are all between 730-745. What are the odds that BOA will port over some of that to the travel card if I’m approved? Also, if they do port over from the Cash card would I still take an HP for the travel card?

All insights appreciated!

Re: Wonky, Possibly Idiotic BOA App Questions

If your profile is ok, they will approve.. If they approve, and you have reached your max limit based on your profile, they could either move some of the limit from the old to the new card, and hard pull you to boot. As for porting over, when you are approved, you can port over all you want, with no hard pull

Just keep in mind that the invitation is not a pre-approved or firm offer - just a marketing solicitation to apply.

As mentioned above, if BoA evaluates that you have sufficient internal exposure, they may carve out a portion of your existing line to approve the new card. An HP will still take place in connection with the application.
