The other day was just another day milling around in the garden and I got bored, so I went to X1 to see what they would approve me for, with no intention of accepting any offer (if I got one) since I'm really trying to stay in the garden and work on getting under 5/24. Went through the whole SP app process but when it came time to link my bank account, I decided no, not doing it, and just abandoned the app.

Later that day I get an email from them asking me to complete my application, ignored it. This was followed up by another identical email the next morning and again, I just ignored it. Then yesterday afternoon I get an email that says "You're approved, no need to connect your bank" followed up by "Your application has been reviewed and approved". It had a link to see my limit so went there and this is what they offered. Not a bad SL for refusing their income verification, but I still declined. I don't remember seeing this before in any threads but could be mistaken. Anyone else have this happen to them?

So I decided to see if I could duplicate what you did for additional data purposes and also got the same result. X1 asked first to use plaid to connect to my account which I ignored. Then a few days later as in yesterday I got an approval email with pretty much the exact same terms as what you were offered. I also did not accept it but can now definitely verify that X1 seems to be allowing this now. Maybe X1's reputation took such a bad hit they had to add more clients anyway they could who knows for sure.

I'm also under the impression (just my own theory) that they're finding there are many people out there that are 1. Not open to sharing their banking information for a CC App, and 2. There are more financial institutions than perhaps they realized that just don't play well with Plaid. so they've changed things up a bit with their initial requirements. Definitely appreciate your research!..

I'm still waiting for @805orbust to come through for science, but perhaps he's still off somewhere "pondering all that is tied up in the word *maybe*" 🤣

@JoeRockhead   ...GUILTY!!!!   Dude I get PARALYZED by analyzing!!!

Actually my bank (TD) doesn't play nice with Plaid either.  I'll try it as well for the science.  I'll report back as soon as I have an answer.  My newest account is only 1 month old so... whatever  Smiley Very Happy

Re: X1 application, without bank verification

I had originally been rejected for the card when it first came out because of my last remaining late, and at the time you couldn't reapply. After reading this thread I apped just to see. I did try and link my information but my credit union doesn't play well with plaid. I got several emails encouraging me to finish my application and then an email saying I was pre-approved and to clink the link to see my limit. I'm not biting but it was nice to see after my initial rejection.

Interesting.....Interesting.....
