EDIT: I took the plunge and decided to pay the $550 annual fee for the Reserve. I decided that since points for travel are 50% more instead of 25% and the sub can be used for $900 in travel it is worth trying it for a year. They gave me a starting limit of $18,600 while the offer for the Preferred was only $6,000 so I am very happy with the difference. I figure I can downgrade in a year or more if I decide to. Thank you to everyone who replied and let me know that was an option. Cheers all!
So, Chase is now showing "You're already approved!" with credit limits, except for the Sapphire Reserve which didn't have a limit. I assume the Reserve would be at least 10k since that's the minimum. Another one of the cards I was shown showed a 6k limit offer, but I prefer that card. Is it possible to call a number got Chase and discuss approval and the possibility of getting a higher limit on that card than I'm preapproved for now?
Alternatively, I like the Sapphire Preferred because I don't think Reserve is worth the fee for me. If I accept the offer for Reserve could I downgrade it to Preferred?
@Hut1 recently posted that on 3/19 they have a new 90k point sub coming out in branch on the CSP I would wait for that 30k points.

Thank you. I saw that.To be honest, I don't really want to go in to do it lol. Is it more complicated? Someone said it took over an hour. I'd rather get an instant response online or talk on the phone for a few minutes. I don't know how changing a card type works though so if I accept the Reserve to try for a higher credit limit I am wondering if I can bump it down to a Preferred. I'm also considering calling tomorrow and just asking over the phone for a higher starting limit, if I can find the right number...

I don't know about Chase, but BofA was 10 minutes or so to apply at the branch. Chase is probably about the same.

It should not take an hour to verify who you are and income. If it took an hour for someone, they obviously had a verification issue. If it normally took an hour the tellers wouldn't be allowed to advise the offer or process it. And if there's a verification issue, you'll be forced to go into the branch anyways.
As for requesting a higher limit, nobody taking an application will do that. You would need to speak to an underwriter after the fact. Just keep in mind, they'll most likely pull your credit again during the recon. Doesn't matter that they just pulled it 5 mins ago for your app. Chase will HP for any credit application, which a negotiation for higher limit is. HPs are designed to show when someone is requesting more credit and Chase are sticklers for that.

Real talk for 300 or so bucks I would go in and say hi, even if it took an hour.
Are you already a member of chase? Just set an appointment go in with ID SS cards and 2-3 paystubs to cover all possible bases and just knock it out extra points if you can get them waive the first year AF

Since you are pre-approved for the CSR in app you can apply for any Chase personal card and likely be approved. I was pre-approved for the CSR and the CSP in app and applied for the CFF.

My income is not found in just pay stubs though. I am partially self-employed and it took me 12 hours to do my taxes because of all of the records and paperwork. I would need documentation for 4+ sources of income so I feel like I'd be there forever. When we bought our house we didn't even use the self-employment portion of my income because it was too much of a hassle and we qualified without it lol

I mean, I'd love the CSP or CFF but I have large projects coming up and really would like a 10k+ limit on a card so I could put it all on one card. I was trying to figure out if I apply for the CSR if I can eventually knock it down to the CSP to go down to the lower annual fee. CSR I believe has a 10k minimum so I thought it might be a sneaky way to get 10k+ on the CSP

Just want to add I don't drive and I have 2 children with severe autism and a preteen with type 1 diabetes. Their dad works a lot and I work from home and homeschool so I'd likely be dragging them with me. I don't know that it's even worth the $300 lol..
