Good morning,
I want to share some data and see someone can relate. I opened my wells fargo cash wise card in March 2019, so it is about 21 months ago. Today, after review my all three credit reports, there is no wells fargo inquiry on any report. I had my checking and saving with them back then, but not anymore. I am really happy to realize that I got a wells fargo credit card without hard inquiry. Does anyone have similar experience? Can someone explain why? I do not know why but no hard inquiry always makes me super happy.
Happy day everyone.
I forgot to include it is a pre-approved offer in the mail, but I still cannot believe it there is no hard inquiry showing on any report.
@Anonymous Congratulations on getting the card without a hard pull! It might be due to the preapproval that you received in the mail.
There are certain financial institutions where if you receive a preapproval, you may not get a hard pull (DCU's credit card for example).
Soft pulls are nice. I personally like what Amex does where after the initial hard pull for your first cc, any subsequent accounts are likely to be soft pulls (they can still hard pull you though).
Btw, not to you but in general hard pulls are not terrible. They impact your score for 1 year and usually fall off after 24 months.

Didn't realize that on the preapproval without HP. Thanks for that bit of info.
Congrats, OP 🎉
Did you see a SP from WF ?
Maybe they pulled a secondary report like Lexus ?
Congrats either way
@Anonymous - are you checking all CRAs from annualcreditreport.com, directly from the CRAs respective sites or myFICO reports?
Although it could be a unique or unusual situation with the OP, DPs here and elsewhere points to pre-selected mailers (once accepted or submitted) still result in a HP (sometimes double) from any of the 3 CRAs.
🦄 Congrats! 🦄

Be careful with this, because my boyfirend got a pre-approval, and wells fargo hard pulled him Transunion. It is not absolute.
I got my all reports from annual credit report since it is free until April.
It is very unusual. My boyfirend got a pre-approval, and wells fargo hard pulled him Transunion.

Yes, I am aware that hard pull is not that bad, but I am just a little bit obsessive compulsive disorder. When I see more than 3 hard pulls on my report, it makes me feel bad for no reason. That is why I tried my best to minimize my hard pulls.
I received so many pre-approval, but wells fargo is the only one without hard pull approval. To compare, my boyfriend wells fargo pre-approval results in a Transunion hard pull.
