approximation of # of points taken for CC application

I am newer here,  I have learned so much and am being very cautious while rebuilding  

I have made decent strides

Got an Open Sky (no pull on credit at all)

Ready to get One regular card soon

Fico Scores are 620 ish and soon expected to rise due recent Pay for delete's

Question:  how many points should I expect when applying for a CC with a hard pull?

Congrats on your rebuild...When you say "how many points should I expect" are you asking how many points you will lose from the inq and new account? Or are you asking how many points you can expect to gain by having another card?

Either way it's hard to nail down a firm number. Generally speaking, the inq and new acct will have a minor and temporary effect, guessing 5-15 points depending on your file. You may not see a drop at all

It does depend on your file...but there has been a few occasions where I've app'd and didn't see a decrease at all.

I didn't take a hit on every HP - but when I did it averaged 3-7 pts.....seems like I got a small hit every 2 INQ, but that isn't written in stone.......I more than gained back once I got the cards and developed some history......
