Re: capital one LUV button....help!

Call me stupid lol but this "luv" button is under services tab correct? Does it actually say "luv"? I'm new here so reading all these posts are so informative. I'm 27 and finally cleaned up my credit report. Paid stuff off and am on the road to gardening. I applied for a CP1 Platinum card in March, was approved for $300 I was thrilled. I chatted online with them like four times and harassed them. 15 days after getting my card I got them to upgrade me to a QuickSilver. I was amazed again. Now I'm wondering how soon I can get a CLI. It's almost a challenge at this point. Smiley Wink

Yep, that's the one.  Smiley Very Happy

Folks generically refer to it as a "luv button" but on most sites it's actually a link, many times with a minimal amount of additional information (current income, rent amount, etc.) necessary.  I guess if you wanted to, you could think of the final <submit> button you click after entering the extra information as the actual 'luv button'.

P.S.  It wasn't a stupid question at all.  Smiley Wink

Re: capital one LUV button....help!

Thank you for your answers. This site has actually answered so many questions for me on this road to better credit. My scores are not so hot. Like around 520. Catching everything up and STAYING current and adding this QS should really help I hope. I would love to add another card but I do NOT want to jump into things and get a bad card. I think I should probably use my QS1 and PIF like I did this month. Just ride it a while and then MAYBE consider another later. That Discover IT card secured makes my mouth water. Smiley Happy

Just having a Discover in your wallet seems exciting lol. An Amex as well. But that's light years away!

It sounds to me like you've got a good plan of attack.  Smiley Happy

I've been there myself, and at times it might seem like having clean reports is light-years away, but trust me, the hard work is worth it.  Capital One was instrumental to my 'rebound', and they'll likely serve you well also.  Paying them on time along with your scores organically increasing will help the card to grow nicely.

When the time is right, Discover It Secured will be there for you as well.  I'm rather fond of my Discover... their 'rotating categories' complements my other cash back cards well!  Smiley Wink

Re: capital one LUV button....help!

Discover just seems to be a all around good card. Not only are the IT cards eye pleasing! (I love the purple one) but the rewards and the CS seem good. Capital One really is ok. They took a big chance on me. I didn't expect them to. How long should I wait before applying for another. There are only two inquiries on my report. CP1 from my new QS and Walmart from a credit card app. Ugh why did I apply!

Discover is really great to deal with (and the cards do look cool) but I've actually had great service from Capital One as well.  Granted, it's not like I call them up all the time, but the handfull of times I've dealt with them over the last few years they have been great.

As for when to app for a new card, I would start by checking the pre-qual.  While not 100% (not much in life is... LOL) it's generally very strong, in that if it says you are pre-qualified you generally will get approved.  Conversely, if there's no pre-qual offer that doesn't mean you'll definitely be turned down for a new card, it's just that YMMV.

I would say, though, if you have been recently approved for a QS1 you will likely qualify for another QS1 or a Platinum, but the bigger question is do you want to do that?  Those cards have annual fees, and you might be better off growing the card you have over acquiring a new one.  Only you know what's best in your situation, though.  If you do decide to move forward with getting a new Capital One card, in six months you might be able to combine them into one, but that's 'iffy' at the moment and varies almost randomly from person to person (we're told that they're still rolling it out to everyone).

Re: capital one LUV button....help!

Probably just grow this one honestly. I've just read so much that Capital One does NOT like to give CLIs. So we will see!
