They do a triple pull....Recon is unlikely with Cap1.
+1
When you apply for a 'primary' Capital One card (i.e. Venture, Quicksilver, and all variations) they do a HP on all three credit bureaus. (Note that this doesn't include the co-branded cards).
They aren't known for being extremely easy to recon with, but that being said the only way to know for certain is to give it a try. Once you've taken the HP(s), there's certainly nothing to lose.
Let us know how it goes!
which card did you app for? if it was quicksilver venture one or venture, forget about it.

QS 1. I have a secured platinum and heard you can only have 2 sub-prime cards with them, I didn't want another platinum but if they will give me a unsecured one i guess i'll take what i can get. Gonna ask if they will issue a unsecured platinum tomorrow if i cant get the qs1
hmm, in that case, your scores def should of gotten you that card.

The underwriting should be similar if not the same for the Platinum and the QS1, so if you can tell your recon call is going well, if it were me I would definitely prefer the QS1 (since it has rewards).
Note also that you might have to go the EO route... try the front-line CSRs first, of course, for good measure, but don't be surprised if you don't get very far with them. Of course these things are always YMMV, so you might in fact have a fantastic first contact... in any case, my fingers are crossed that it will work out in the end.
Again, good luck and let us know how it goes!
Edited to add: It would be irresponsible of me to not mention that most people are not successful with Capital One recons... however that doesn't mean you can't at least try if that's what you want to do (these things are YMMV, after all).
It could be that Cap One now owns that HSBC CO, if so they may be holding that against you, if so, Recon is futile, but in reality, Recon is futile regardless because they just aren't known for that. You may want to consider dealing with that CO if you want to play ball with Cap One.
