Re: easiest citi card to get not secured or store?

I had received an invitation from Citi AAdvantage .. It was not a pre-approval.  Actually I tried their prequal and got nothing but suggestions.

I just knew I was going into the garden soon ... not quite yet .. but almost.

Anyway, I applied ... really expecting a denial.  But I was approved couple days ago for $4500.00

Still don't believe it... but I really wanted a travel card.

So I don't know about the bankruptcy having to be discharged 7 years..

Maybe search the threads for any anomolies and exceptions to the 7 years discharge rule.

Good Luck.

I wish I could suggest another card .. but I am not as versed on travel cards.

I just knew what I liked and went for it...

Keep us posted if you go for this or anything else.

I love learning.

The 7 years count from the filing date not discharge.

Re: citi aa

It might be tough. I can't remember off the top how citi sppears to handle this. Try searching these forums for answers on that. I'm sure there is info on it.

Thanks for the advice i wont waste the inquiry. Much appreciated. Citi is the only major bank card I dont have business with (other than the best buy) outside of amex which i cant get and chase who i had a student loan with IIB so i'm blackballed there. I  wanted to get the American airlines card possibly or one of the good unafilliated cards, as my city is an AA hub and pretty much any flight out of here is AA.

Csn't blame you for not wanting.to waste a HP or possibly a pull on 2 bureaus that have too high of a chance of not being approved.

Re: easiest citi card to get not secured or store?

I've seen some lower scores get approval for the AA card, but the reality is there is no citi card that's easy to get, you either meet their criteria for approval or not. It's not like capital one that has prime and sub prime. If your not ready now it ok, the card will always be there when you are.

Re: easiest citi card to get not secured or store?

In my BK Chase was burned for over $100k on business cards I had with them, They let me back in after 4 years and I currently have a $22k limit with them. You just have to plead your case as to why you are a good borrower now to a Senior Underwriter and or maybe a Underwriting Manager. They started me off with 5k and 4 months later I called in when I was making a big purchase and asked for $15k the underwriter said he could approve it to $22k to give me some breathing room.

What about people who settled for less with Citi?

Its a YMMV and also depends on if you settled with Citi directly or a JDB.

Re: easiest citi card to get not secured or store?

I don't even remember if it was Citi or CA. It was 2011/2012 when I did this. It shows as CO so probably CA. No easy to find out, is there? It wasn't that much but I think I paid 400 instead of 1200.

Re: easiest citi card to get not secured or store?

Your reason for applying is quite poor. Don't apply just because you simply don't have that lender for a non co-branded card. That's never worth it
