today i had a good and bad day app-wise. i need a little advice - i apped for a cap1 quicksilver1 figuring they would give me a decent limit since my first card with them was 3 years ago when i began my rebuild.
anyway they put it through - DPs - income $58k, fico credit scores 670-680ish (used my experian free trial this week) on all 3 and vantage 715 on my apps.
i got approved for a lousy $300 card with a $39 AF. i'm feeling so stupid for apping now, i called but after they transferred me to manager my call dropped. i got angry and impulse apped for the chase flex, since i already have a nice $7.9k sapphire with them and a long banking relationship - got approved for $8.1k!!! that cooled me down a little. all in all i'm happy with the new chase card, but is there anything i can do about the capital one card? i don't wan't it and would like that it never shows up on my credit reports. for one it brings down my average age, and secondly i just don't wan't a card with a $300 limit reporting....makes me feel like i just started building my credit.
anything i can do? i just got approved an hour ago and it's already on my app.
Sorry to tell you that even if you cancel right now it will still report. There is nothing that can be done at this point.
thanks, i'm definitely happy about the chase card - but i really don't want the cap one card. is there any way i can get it to not be sent out and never appear on my credit file, even as closed? because if i open and close a card immediately i think it still messes with my average age of open accounts which was just about to hit 2 years. my first cap1 was 3 years ago and my disco and csp are around 1.5 years.
Congrats on your approvals!! You can close, but you've already taken a 3 HP hit. I'd keep the card for a year, if you decide to apply for a Prime card later. Closing before a year might cause issues on future apps. Then I would definitely close if other lenders are giving you 8k. Do you have lates or anything with Cap One?

thanks for the reply. that's what i assumed, was a dumb move. i wouldn't have apped for chase if it didn't put me off though. it wasn't in my recommendations on the chase app and didn't show me a fixed apr so i apped out of anger at cap1, lol.
all in all i'm happy now. gonna go look at those perks again, looks real nice something like $200 for $500 spend, i believe up to $200 for using amazon at 20% back, 5% categories...that is not bad at all for a no AF card. i don't see an intro 0% apr on my app but that's ok they just raised my credit total by 80%.

thanks, that's solid advice. i've just seen people have quicksilver1s with high limits so i figured they would hook me up. same happened last year when i apped for disco, they started me out at $500, it's only $1.1k now. it just seemed so many people got good limits with them.
i have 2 derogs. according to my credit report one falls off in december one in january, both charge offs that i tried to get PFD but neither would. as far as my current cards, just chase reporting a balance and zero lates. i gotta hand it to chase they give me man cards when these other companies are offering kiddie toys.

You sure you weren't looking at regular QS and not QS1?
QS1 is the rebuild/starter version
QS is the regular/somewhat prime version
I'd just call to close now and see if you can get out of the 39 AF
you are right. qs1 is a rebuilder, i made a mistake. the card i currently have is actually the regular quicksilver. i've seen here that people get two of the same card and then just combine them later, slipped my mind that there was a qs AND a qs1... i think i might just hold it now though bc it might look weird if i have a card that was immediately closed. might look like the company did it and i don't want any issues with my new flex card.
i haven't apped in a year and a half, this was a strange way to get back in the game. hopefully having a tiny rebuilding card on my report doesn't put off any future lenders.
Someone already brought it up, but I was about to say, are you sure you apped the right one. Cap One's "prime" cards are the Quicksilver (NOT QS1), the Venture and Savor I believe.
