how hard is it to get an Amex

I have rebuilt my credit i still have 3 Charge offs from BOA and Chase back from feb 2008 which they are not scheduled to come off till 02/15 its the only negative that i have 1 inquire for 2014 but i have re established credit since 12/13 with 2 cap 1 , kays since then but i opened lowes, walmart and chevron in 08/2014 . My utilization is about 48% what are chances of getting any amex fico score is 680. I have older accounts car loans and mortgages paid off back in 2006 ..so the only negatives that i have is the 3 charge offs. Do u think i have any chance. I keep getting emails for the amex everyday but i think its general email to everybody.any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: how hard is it to get an Amex

I would bring down the utilization to under 30% just to be on the safe side unless you have a somewhat thick file

Amex Platinum, Amex Hilton HHonors Surpass, Chase Southwest Premier, Chase Marriott Rewards Premier, Discover IT, Sony Visa, Barclay Arrival+ MC, Cabela Visa, Walmart SC, Amazon SC, Kohls, Diners Club Premier, PayPal Credit, PenFed Platinum Reward Visa, PenFed PLOC, Chase Ritz Carlton, Citi TY Premier, Amex BCP, Discover Miles, Care Credit, Blue Nile SC, iComfort SC, Cap1 Venture, Chase Hyatt, Lowes, US Bank Cash+, Citi Costco Visa

If those C/O's are coming off in a few months I would certainly wait for that and then get your Util down a bit. That should put you in great shape, but your income may be a factor as well.

So, you might not see that 14 MSD..?

Try going for a charge card like a PRG.

Re: how hard is it to get an Amex

If I remember correctly, I got my Delta Gold with like a 667. I still have a $0 Cap One chargeoff and a repo deficiency balance on EX. Delta is the easiest revolver to get I've read numerous times. I apped for the Amex ED and was denied. I plan to close Delta next fall once my EX is clean and I get the ED. I'm allergic to annual fees. It was just a way in to Amex for me. The sign up bonus was nice as well. Smiley Happy
