I have just started working on getting my credit rating high so that I can qualify for a high rewards card. One thing I am concerned about, is if my FICO score is high, but I have a low income, can I still get high reward cards?
Yes. Seek out @AverageJoesCredit and @Anonymous for the answers you seek.

Thank you. I will try to find them.

If you are attempting to get credit cards that have large cashback or points rewards, it is possible with a low income. However, it is unlikely that you will get high credit limits. The Credit CARD Act of 2009 requires lenders to assess your "ability to repay" and that is done based on your income, and other liquid assets to a lesser extent.

I have income <20,000 and been approved for several cards, just with lower limits. Those limits grow though! Best of luck.

+1 to all the posts above.
High rewards and high limits are two totally different things. I have low income, yet i have very high end cards and some higher limits with CU's that go against the grain of what a low income should be offered. It's all up to you and what you want to focus on. In some cases, a lower income can hold you back from high limits, but as long as you have a solid profile, getting those high benefits cards shouldnt be an issue. I'm not only a low income, i'm also a rebuilder as well. I focused on building the most solid profile i could, and the rest just came to me. I have faith that you will get the cards you seek, and everyone here is happy to help you achieve that goal.
If you have the "why", you'll figure out how..
Thank you all so much. I am working hard to EVENTUALLY have really good credit so that I can get some good rewards. I had not actually checked my credit report before posting, and it is pretty bad. Some bills I thought my husband had paid were not[ we had divorced, later I found out he has Alzheimers and we are now back together but not married]I had a line of credit for $4500 that was maxed out. I paid that off entirely. I also have some baddies in the way of paid collections and late pay.Last month I got a secured credit card and a fingerhut account which is totally paid off. So, I am thinking that maybe, even with a lower income that I will someday be eligible for the good rewards cards, but not for a long time.

Welcome to My Fico.
I wish you much success in rebuilding your credit.
But the main point of my post is to say: May God richly bless you for being such a compassionate & caring soul.
It takes a great deal to be a caregiver, even more to care for a person with Alzheimer's or dementia and a great deal more love & kindness when it's an ex spouse.
You have my respect & encouragement!!
You must be a wonderful, kind human being!
Sending you many thoughts, prayers & love.
