Hey all I'm just curious on your thoughts about apply with penfed or usaa. I'm already in with nfcu. Just curious about each one. How difficult or not either one is on applying and obtaining credit through. My scores are low to mid 600s. Couple baddies from 5 years ago. Thanks in advance! Go patriots!

I belong to both as well as nfcu. Neither are as open to giving out credit cards as NFCU especially ones with large credit limits. To be honest, with your credit file as it is you're going to have some difficulty with both. Remember, they are different. One is a credit union while USAA is a bank. USaa is great for products besides credit. They are known for their insurance products so I'd strongly encourage you to join them at least for that. You don't gave to open any kind of savings or checking account to join USAA while for the CUs, they require you be a member which means at a minimum a small savings account to apply for credit. Unlike NFCU, you cannot recon with USAA. I'm not sure about Penfed for that. It wouldn't hurt to join either but I'd hold off on applying for credit until you work on those baddies.
If your are looking for credit Penfed is a lot more conservative when it comes of granting credit. USAA it is a little easier and less conservative than Penfed.
Great advice! Thanks to to the both of you. I appreciate it.
