I am scared and don't wanna do the full 3x. What should i do. It will be 60 days as of may 28th.

my profile is recovered. just i am a little worried. see up to date scores in signature. that doesn't include my new amex which hasn't reported yet, for some odd reason.

You don't have to do the full 3x if you don't want to, but there is no credit reason not to do it. If Amex thinks that you should only get a 10% increase, they will counter, rather than decline. However, if you only want a 2x or a 50% increase, go with what you are comfortable asking for.

i think i am going to ask for 4200, thats a nice sized cl for a person with only 8 months of experience at that time.

Re: planning for amex 3x cli

After my rejection I have to wait 90 days. Now that I'm in the garden, this is now an important question - will they do a HP?

did you ask for the full 3x cli? thats why i i don't wanna do that because then its just a flat out decline.

Ok. But nothing to fear. When I was 8 months. I asked for full. Went from 3500 to 10.5 k. Next increase is in 3 weeks. Still only year 6 months since first card. Asking for 25k. As stated. If they can't give you full. They will counter. If declined. You would have been declined even for 100 so the amount you ask for is not the determining factor. As long as not more than 3

times. Just your overall profile. Having credit only 8 months is ok with amex. They love thin files. So you may as well reach for stars. If they will approve 4200 they will also approve 10k. In your case 6k. But really. I've seen those 1k and 2k limits get declined for cli first go around. Good luck. Fingers crossed for you. Of course. Ymmv.

Re: planning for amex 3x cli

I didn't think I would get the 3x CLI either, but I decided to try it anyway and figured it would just counter, but I actually got it! I went from $2k to $6k! So I'd say it's worth a shot, and it won't be a decline unless they wouldn't have offered you any increase anyway, if they only want to give you a 2x CLI or something else, they will just counter with that.

There is no reason to be scared. Go for $6000. Have your balance paid really low or at 0. My credit file was 9.5 months and I got my 3x cli. If you don't get it try again in 90 days.  You will kick yourself if you get approved for the lower amount and didn't go for the full amount.

You are not doing anything wrong, some people get the CLI others don't.

I got the CLI from 2 -> 6 and my APR is around 20%, DW got Amex with 3.5k and 13 APR and they didn't approve her.
