@Pikaboo-icu thanks for the fast reply !! in your personal opinion between Discover and Amex which one is better at going towards (if possible) racking up points to use towards like air fare/ hotels??
also is there different Discover / Amex I should look into specifically? like chase has freedom, CSP, CSR, etc etc I"m new to some of this lingo haha
Thanks Pikaboo-icu. (cool name)
Shawnee is better, tired but no puke.
@SJRN/ Pikaboo-icu thanks so another question if I recon will that for freedom would they do another hardpull or already have that on file to relook at my credit history??
and for the cards you mentioned is there a good one vs bad one when looking into discover / AMEX( AMEX is american express right?)
thansk again guys!! keep in touch I like this forum !
good luck to you guys
oh P.S. how do I add my little banner of my credit scores like you both have little banners for EX, TU, EQ with color coated I want to add mine!!
I chose the Amex BCE, AmericanExpress Blue Cash Everyday, because cash back was more simple than points for my first card. I like it a lot. Many ppl prefer points to cash back, choose The Everyday card.
Discover IT, I chose the 5% cash back mostly for the 5% back in December for Amazon. I got it just before Christmas. BUT... another big perk with the Discover IT... they double your cash back for the first year. That is a very nice benefit.
If you travel a lot, other options would be better for you.
I think the discover it card sounds better mainly because AMEX american express isnt accepted everywhere. but if AMEX is a little higher of a tier credit card would that look better to apply with them vs discover or at the end of the day eithero r will do the same. mean I mainly just my spending on groceries, gas, etc so I think the 5% cash back for discover so more to my liking until I can get Chase freedom and CSP ![]()
do they have a credit card if you know of that isn't chase that you can rack up points and use it towards airfare/ hotels I dont travel alot but I wouldn't mind rackign up points for that so when I do travel it money saved long term.
Missed this question in my previous resply. I would call recon, ask about a review of the denial. I would also make it clear you don't want them to do an additional HP. I'm sure they already HP'd EX & probably TU. If they can review & approve based on those pulls, that's great. But, if they offer to do another HP, I would say thanks, but I'll try back later... after a longer credit card history.
It would be awesome if they'd recon, even give you a low SL. If not, you'll be back!
Amex BCE is really good for groceries. The BCE is 3%, the BCE Preferred is 6% back, but it costs $95 a year, first year fee is waved. When you are on the Amex site. Choose "credit cards" then "find cards" a drop down menu will offer choice of the card categories... cash back, travel, points... you can see the benefits of each category, choose to compare cards.
DiscoverIT does groceries by quarter/category. I think the grocery 5% back ends at the end of the this month. I'm sure Discover has a compare card option also. They do have less choices than Amex or Chase.
Honestly... I think i'd go for both an Amex & a Discover. So tempting. One is good to start, probably a good idea untill you recon Chase. Then, if they still say no, go for the second card.
okay I'll see what they say. so when asked about my credit score again when I call do I say myfico score says 769 which is my credit score right? kind of confused about the Creditkarma and myfico score. but myfico is what I want to go by right when asked? and then see where they go from there what if they say my income I make is too low? mean I'm not rich either haha plus between my student loans and auto its like 20k so that may be the reason not high enough income compared to what my balance is with auto and studen loans combined are?
P.S. It would be awesome if they'd recon, even give you a low SL. If not, you'll be back! what does the even give you a low SL?? what does SL mean?

Discover It is a great card..
I'm more of a cash back person so I defer to sjrn & others on the points cards.. Sorry..
You really do have a great file and should be golden with most cc's, Chase is just a bit sticky with thin files/little cc experience.
Good Luck on the Freedom recon, let us know how it goes..![]()
CHEERS.

SL= Starting Limit
Your Fico Score is the one lenders use and there are different versions of Fico with 8 & 9 being most commonly used.
Credit Karma, Wallet hub give you a general idea but are not the actual scores used by lenders as a rule. They're referred to as FAKO scores.
They likely wont ask your score as they will have your credit pull to refer to-
