So, Chase is now showing "You're already approved!" with credit limits, except for the Sapphire Reserve which didn't have a limit. I assume the Reserve would be at least 10k since that's the minimum. Another one of the cards I was shown showed a 6k limit offer, but I prefer that card. Is it possible to call a number got Chase and discuss approval and the possibility of getting a higher limit on that card than I'm preapproved for now?

Alternatively, I like the Sapphire Preferred because I don't think Reserve is worth the fee for me. If I accept the offer for Reserve could I downgrade it to Preferred?

Since you are pre-approved for the CSR in app you can apply for any Chase personal card and likely be approved. I was pre-approved for the CSR and the CSP in app and applied for the CFF.

I mean, I'd love the CSP or CFF but I have large projects coming up and really would like a 10k+ limit on a card so I could put it all on one card. I was trying to figure out if I apply for the CSR if I can eventually knock it down to the CSP to go down to the lower annual fee. CSR I believe has a 10k minimum so I thought it might be a sneaky way to get 10k+ on the CSP

Yes you can PC from the CSR to the CSP. You need to wait one year. Then it would be no problem.

Are you OK with an all-or-nothing senario i.e. you either get a $10K CSR for your hard pull(s) or you get nothing?

And yes you can eventually downgrade a CSR to a CSP or even a Freedom  but you'd probably want to confirm first whether or not Chase would let you do that in such a way as to avoid being on the hook for the CSR's entire 1st year annual fee.

I figured that wouldn't happen because it said "You're already approved!" I took the plunge and got $18,600 sl Smiley Happy Happy camper. Thank you though btw! I am going to give it a shot, but might downgrade if it doesn't work for me.

Congrats! I told you that you would be surprised with your SL.

You're not wrong! I would have been happy with 12k and my ideal was 15k so 18.6k is great. I decided the $300 travel credit brings the fee down to $250 and since the bonus if used for travel is $200 more that helps or if I dont use it for travel I can also likely make up that $250 partially in points. Then the difference between the two cards is very minor. I still believe the Preferred is best for me because I don't fly, I take trains, buses, Turo etc... I buy all my groceries online and use a ton of streaming services too. I am going to give Reserve a chance before I decide for sure though. Thank you for the help ! Smiley Happy

@Hut1 recently posted that on 3/19 they have a new 90k point sub coming out in branch on the CSP I would wait for that 30k points.

Thank you. I saw that.To be honest, I don't really want to go in to do it lol. Is it more complicated? Someone said it took over an hour. I'd rather get an instant response online or talk on the phone for a few minutes. I don't know how changing a card type works though so if I accept the Reserve to try for a higher credit limit I am wondering if I can bump it down to a Preferred. I'm also considering calling tomorrow and just asking over the phone for a higher starting limit, if I can find the right number...

Real talk for 300 or so bucks I would go in and say hi, even if it took an hour.

Are you already a member of chase? Just set an appointment go in with ID SS cards and 2-3 paystubs to cover all possible bases and just knock it out extra points if you can get them waive the first year AF

Just want to add I don't drive and I have 2 children with severe autism and a preteen with type 1 diabetes. Their dad works a lot and I work from home and homeschool so I'd likely be dragging them with me. I don't know that it's even worth the $300 lol..

Just to tell you, I have 2 boys and both have autism as well. They are blessings. My older son is now in college on full scholarship. Your kids have no limitations as to what they can do in life and they will amaze you. And funny enough I just helped him get is first cc, a Discover IT Cash Back 1500 SL. I did put him on 2 of my cc cards as an AU.

My brother is autistic, to borrow a line from Forest Gump "Autism is like a box of chocolate you just never know what you are going to get"

@Joleybear Maybe not, but you can always do a saturday leave DH at home and treat yourself to a spa day on Chase!
