"We must review your file further" message means you have been denied

In my experience, every time I have applied for credit and instead of an auto-approval I receive this message, it means you have been denied. I wish they would just say "you have been denied credit" rather than posting the "needs further review" message. If anybody has any success stories when getting the "needs further review" message, please reply.

Not necessarily, it could mean that they need verification, or if you have a fraud alert on your profile. Fingerscrossed!

That message does not mean you have been denied.  Some companies need time to verify your identity, income hence the message.

I got the "need further review," and since I had high scores, a decent income, low UT, and no derogs, I called to see what was up. I had forgotten that my EX had a freeze on it. Once I removed the freeze, I was automatically approved for $15K.

If you wanna feel like an arse try applying for a cli increase on a Synchrony Pep Boys account. They just come straight out and say you are denied for credit blah blah blah but dang the language really hurts ones feelings it's so blunt

Amex gave me that message the other day. It was verification. I walked away with 22k SL from a SP.
