For all the people that have applied for a Wal Mart credit card and were approved, could you give me some insight on what your scores were at the time of application. I do not have any store cards and have read alot on here about getting a few store cards, however, I only would like ones tat I would actually use.
I don't have the Walmart card but have Sam's Club M/C. Scores were mid 700's. I hear ppl with scores in the mid-upper 600's for Walmart.

I was approved for $600 with a score of 603 (according to Wal-Mart FICO), called in and they doubled my CL.
In my case my score was 653 and approved with $900 , i have history with them too with amazon card , maybe that help too.
I was in the 690's when I was approved by Walmart. In the mid 700's now, but cannot get a pre approval for Sam's Club.

Judging by the other responses so far, with the scores required you could get a prime credit card instead of a wal-mart one and probably get more benefits and use from them. Just a thought but look into Capital One or Amex (if you have a clean history for this one only).
Thanks for all the responses everyone. Well, some dissapointing news this morning...I bit the bullet and paid for the 3 credit reports with monitoring ($24.95/mo. using my new Cap 1 Quicksilver 1, and found out my FICO Score 8 (my real score that most lenders/bankcards use). So here is the bad news part. EQ: 571 TU: 575 EX: 579. The silver lining to this is, I now have something in front of me to concentrate on paying off the little stuff on the reports, and the 2 BIG baddies on there are on public records, and it shows the tax liens paid and released, so I just have to send a copy to Equifax and Experian and have it removed. In doing just that portion of my report, my guess is that my score will jump up at least 20 points, which will put me at the 600 range.
The other good thing is my NFCU account should reflect the current limit this upcoming month and the Cap 1 QS1 card ($300 limit...I know sad, but gotta start somewhere on rebuilding) should report this upcoming month as well. I will say this, my report shows that the NFCU card is still at $500 CL, but shows pays on time. My wife used it one month and didn't tell me she maxed it at $496 out of $500 limit, so it is showing a extremely high utilization, but it has been paid down to $0, so hopefully this upcoming month will reflect better results in boosting my score a little. Also, only showing the NFCU inquiry from Aug 2014 and the Cap1 QS1 inquiry from Apr 6 (Approved $300 limit) and Cap1 Platinum Apr 15 (Declined...I did try the recon line, but they wanted to do another HP, I said uh, no thank you and promptly hung up).
So, at this junction in time, I guess i will be "gardening" as all the ole salty dogs around here call it, until I see better results on my scores, maybe 6 months from now so say Oct/Nov we will see where I am at. Thanks guys/gals, learning alot here, thanks again!!!
