Since when did macys start hard pulling for a CLI ?? I have always requested a credit line increase with them every six months and never been declined. I requested one last week, and got an Equifax hard pull!!!! WOW was not expecting that...I got a letter yesterday that said my request had been declined because I recently received a CLI on my macys account. Any one know anything about this ?

Yup they HP me in August. I asked the rep if it was going to be a HP or SP and she told me SP. I received an alert the following morning. smh!
since macys did their website conversion, its a ymmv thing but I would expect a hard pull if you hit that button. Macys and Bloomingdales could have resulted in a hard pull back in the day, but usually it didnt. now its more a matter of fact thing, and they wont let you upgrad your card to amex via the phone method. instead u have to app for a new card in the store.
the other thing I noticed is that the letter came from Citi instead of Department Stores National Bank. I know Department Stores National Bank was owned by Citi, however, it was opporated differently. Now though it looks as though they have kinda of merged DSNB in with Citi, and are using the same UW guidelines that Citi uses on all its retail cards (Shell, Brooks Bros., The childrens place, best buy, etc). It appears that all CLI will be a HP every time from here on out.

Since they updated the website and combined all the limits from the different accounts. middle of august. Good thing is they are no longer tight. They will give you what you ask for even 25k.

Right, pretty much what ddemari mentioned above. Plus, they've always been an affiliate of Citi (since Citi aquired them years ago). Thus, as a result of recent system upgrades and platform conversions, they've simply standardized their UW and credit policies to be in line with those from their other retail partners and Citi itself. So, if a CLI is requested, it will be HP going forward so choose the CLI amount wisely.
Does anyone know if Macy's pulls any other CB then EQ for a CLI?
Ive mostly seen EQ or TU for CLIs.
