Regarding getting back in with AMEX after burning them in a bankruptcy, my understanding is, if you burned them for "a few thousand dollars", getting back in after eight or ten years is definitely possible, however, some of us, me included, burned them for "a few tens of thousands of dollars", fifteen to twenty years may, or most likely may not be long enough.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

this is usually true the more they were burnt for usually the harder it is to get back with them.
If you burned me for 10k I would have given you a nice HP before the denial.
thanks for the DPs
@lgtwriter I'm 13 years and counting. I'm in no hurry for another AMEX nothing special in my opinion.
@SFLSpotter9210 Same here. I applied more out of curiosity to see if I was on the blacklist than for any desire for an AMEX card.
I will say AMEX has two things to offer, at least from my perspective:
Can I do quite nicely without ever having another AMEX in my wallet? Certainly; but that doesn't mean I don't want one again.

You can prequalify for cards even if you're on the blacklist. It's not until you actually apply and the system checks it's database that you'll be declined.
So true....

I am still on their bad-boys list for the last 26 yrs and still counting...burned them over $66k in 1995...never paid nor get discharged thru BK...Recently, in March, I was qualified for the first time for all cards on their pre-qualification tool but instantly got denied upon applying without any HP...The reason was given - being default with them in the past...Nobody knows, including Amex, as to when you be off that "loved" list...it varies from person to person..The only way to find out if you are off the list is- just keep applying every 2-3 months...no harm in doing so as there won't be any HP anyway if you still be on their list....
$45k here.
Anyone in the Amex bad boy list also on the Chase and Citi blacklist too? LOL. I burned them all. That has made my rebuild more difficult than most.

Yup, I burned all three in my 2015 Chapter 13 filing; in my case it doesn't seem to be hurting my rebuild.
