so yeah i called and was denied. they used eery term in the book to tell me that i have gotten too many cards recently.
too many applications
too many new revolving credit accounts
too many young accounts or something to that effect
too short of history with revolving accounts
also said too many accounts with delinquincies. I have one from over 3 years ago and a collection that falls off in January. Not even on my TU. So I guess thhey pulled from EQ or EX
But it's all true. so I am just going to sit now and wait. I've got 4 pretty good revolvers and an Amex charge. So just let it age and do work for me.
I guess ultimately I still don't know if I'm blacklisted. I am guessing maybe not. But I would've thought Penfed was harder to get approved than Chase.
If you were blacklisted, they would state it in the reason for denial. So now you know your are not blacklisted.

She just doesn't understand how hard it has been all of these years with bad credit and no cards.
So now I want to get a real strong base and garden for a minimum of a year to let them age and build scores back up.
She probably thinks I want to max them out like when we were young and dumb. When the reality is the exact opposite.
When we get a new house in a few years and she says She can't believe we got it "x" interest, I can tell her you're welcome and get to hear her tell me I was right. Again.
My husband has NO CC's of his own, All the credit is in my name alone.
The reason for that is: He has tanked our credit TWICE since we've been married, unintentionally.
He shops like a GURL!
I monitor the AU cards he has like a hawk (for numerous reasons not just his spending) but part of it is a check & balance on his shopping/spending habits. It's too easy for him to SPEND when he doesn't see green dollars leaving his wallet.
We RISE or FALL together. Marriage is a partnership.
Your situation is not my business but I wanted to share mine. Credit cards can become an addiction, just sayin'.
If you have a handle on it and your plan, you should talk to her- you'll feel better about it..
No piece of plastic is worth a marriage or even a marital argument.
Sorry for your denial.. That is a sign to slow down & let things mature.
Good Luck-

LOL 😂😂😂
lol no. we don't fight over it. she just asks why i need another card and what i plan on buying. she is actually better with me collecting these than some of the other things that i have wasted money on and collected in the past.
i used to blow money stupidly. now thanks to building up my scores i am saving money.
as the saying goes, you like to eat the sausage but you don't want to see how it's made, is the perfect example.

Based on your everything I read on this forum and elsewhere, I would have applied for the Chase card before all the others, or even better, wait until all the derogatory items fall off of your report.
I agree but had no chance for a Chase before the others. I had a 6 month cc(with 36% util) and a car loan just over a year old. So Chase wasn't happening then. I had nothing on their prequals but did on Amex and Disc so went that route. That put me at 3. Once my Disc was reporting my util had dropped and score went up. I really had no intention of any others until next year. But saw that increase and had just joined NFCU so figured what the hell. Got approved for that. Now I could've went for Chase but still had no prequals and other than my util going down nothing had really improved my profile enough to be a Chase candidate.
Maybe if I had gone for a lower card I might've had a chance. But I thought I was done anyway and maybe save the last spot for ear;y next year after the new cards were at about 6 months and had some history. I joined Penfed just as I did with NFCU just to get in for future loans and cards in the future. While on the phone I was asked if I intended to get any other products or services. I said early next year I wanted a car loan and cc. She said do you want to try and I figured sure. Still didn't really expect but figured no harm since they already did the pull. Got approved.
Realistically I only went for the Chase now because if my report was good enough to qualify I'd rather try before all new cards were reporting. But as I expected it was a no. So no biggie. In the long run, I see more use with NFCU and Penfed than I do Chase. First cards with them were 10k and 6500. No chance Chase would've given me close to those. By the time my 2 years is up and I can apply with Chase, I'll probably have a second with NFCU and both cards much higher limits from what I've read here. And Penfed will probably be decent as well.
But I do agree thst if I really felt the need for Chase, based on all I have read I would've put them first or at least saved a spot for them after the growth and history were there.

If you had no chance with Chase before the new cards, then you definitely didn't after. Limited history, two new applications plus the CSP app combined with derogatory items on your report raised the red flags at Chase. I have one derogatory item from 2012 due to fall off next year. Until then I wouldn't dream or applying to Citi or Chase (well I do dream actually
) until I reached AAoA of 1 year and that item falls off.

That may have been a better choice. The CSP is a minimum $5k credit, and Chase is squirrely about handing out that limit. I would say your report should have no derogs, a minimum AAoA of 1 year, a minimum of 6 months since last app, and scores in the 720+ range for good odds.
While the Freedom or Freedom Unlimited cards wouldn't be high limit cards, they would have given you a relationship with Chase. After a year or so, you can then app for the CSP depending on the derogatory items.

Dont confuse the credit unions with prime banks. Often they have way different lending criteria.
I'd rather try before all new cards were reporting.
That wouldn't matter. They'll either they see the inquiries, or the reported new accounts
By the time my 2 years is up and I can apply with Chase,
Will your derogs have fallen off by then?
Well as I said I didn't think I had a chance realistically. So I burned a HP to see if I was blacklisted. My AAoA is just under 2 years now but was over 2 years when I applied. That was based on a paid off car loan that goes back to open in 2011 and pay off in 2016.
And I admit I could've went for a lower card if it was that important for me to get in. I am only going for cards that I plan on keeping moving forward. So if I can only have one, I see myself using CSP more than F or FU. Sure getting a Freedom or FU is a good card that I could PC in the future, but I don't really see myself at this point looking for the Chase trifecta and micro managing everything. Ultimately that could change as I get more into rewards and all of that, but I free up 4 spots of my 5/24 in a 3 week span. So if I decide to go for them I can start then.
I do recognize that prime banks are much harder for approval and limits, but I had gotten 10k from Disc, 10k from NFCU and 6500 from Penfed. So I just rolled the dice. It was my only denial in my spree. I took a chance that I wasn't planning on taking. If I had not followed taking a chance, right now I would still be sitting here with only my cu cc having to wait that much longer. to build up a decent profile.
As far as them seeing my other inq applying for credit, they pulled EX which was only inq by Disc(which was already reporting) and Amex. So it wasn't like they would've seen NFCU or Penfed.
The only collection account I have is a $20 medical that falls off in January. The other derog is a paid off car loan that has a total of 17(30 day) lates. It will be down to 10 lates and at that point there won't have been a late in 5 years. I do plan on GW those to try and get them off.
