I obtained two credit cards in January (NFCU and CSP), just canceled two cap 1 cards (1 1/2 and 3 years old 5K limit total) today and PC'd AMEX green to Senior Gold (saved money in the process). Paid off $4K CC balance this month, utilization near zero. 20K total CL after canceling Cap 1's. Denied AMEX everyday last August. Would like another AMEX for history (24 years on new senior gold) and cash back-looking at BCE.
Too soon to try? Wait for all these changes to settle? Still have another credit card I want to cancel but will wait until June before the AF hits on a 1K no frills starter card. It's 3 years old. AAoA was 7 years before canceling the two Cap 1's. Now have six open accounts, three chase, one amex, one USAA starter and one NFCU. Also have $115K home equity line of credit, due for principal repayment in two years. Income $50K tax-free. Lots of hard pulls (8 on equifax, 4 tu, 8 experien). Last bad in 2013 (30/60 on HELOC). If I app for AMEX revolver will want no more credit until 2017 when my payments go up.
Think you would be fine since you already have an Amex card.. If denied it should be a SP.. Or if you want a higher limit if your CSP hasn't reported then wait for it to report?
good luck
