So I am getting an itchy finger to Apply for Citi's AAdvantage Platinum card. I like the earning potential in AA miles and the fact that the fee is waived the first year, and the nice signup bonus is nice too. I've never had a Citi card before, and so I am a little nervous especially since this seems like a pretty prime card.
My main concern is that I may have a history that is too short for what they want for such a card. What do you guys think are my odds?
Here are my stats:
Oldest account: 2 years 3 months
AAoA: 1 year 1 month
Newest account: 4 months (there is a one month old business account which they can't see)
Scores: low to mid 700s
Inquiries: don't know how many overall (likely around 4 or 5), but I have 1 in the last 6 months on Experian (which is what Citi pulls here)
Balances: around 14% now but not important, I pay in full and will wait until most of my cards have low or zero balances reporting.
I currently have 5 accounts, limits between $2000 (my oldest account which I don't use much) and $12,000 (my workhorse card which gets most of my spending), with others being at 6k, 7k and 10k. All of them are with prime lenders: BoA, Amex, US Bank and PenFed.
My income is between $35k and $40k.
Should I go for it?
Any offers when you check pre-qual on citicards.com?

This seems promising. Are the Citi pre-quals reliable?
